Complete a speedrun of Dragon Quest III, signed role-playing video game Chunsoft and landed only in 2020 on a portable console Nintendo Switch e PlayStation 4, it could be much simpler than expected. To reveal it are the speedrunners of the title, who would have accomplished the feat by exploiting the heating of the game cartridge!
The user Twitter Hitsheegame has in fact recently published, on the social platform, a photo of its speedrun configuration including a hot plate. The latter would be necessary to perform a glitch which, once obtained, would give the possibility to reach level 99 in a few minutes.
It would also provide further proof of this possibility pirohiko which, through a video published on YouTube, would show an example of exploitation of cartridge heating. However, the video allows you to see one of the negative aspects of this attempt: reaching level 99 with this method could make all the text boxes completely unreadable!
Before making all the appropriate attempts, however, another user (sackchief) wanted to specify how this glitch of Dragon Quest III allow to exploit the heating only in some versions of the title for Famicom. According to his words, overheating the cartridge and resetting it to a specific point would in fact result in an interruption of the game, due to its control circuit.
It is certainly not the first time that some users and players have tried to take advantage of the heating of the cartridges during the game to perform speedrun or unlock glitches, but we must always remember that the possibility of overheating excessively or having corresponding side effects is very high.
At the moment, at least in regards to Dragon Quest III, all that remains is to wait for further attempts by other gamers. Only the latter will in fact be able to reveal whether the glitch is actually available only in some versions of the signed title Chunsoft and what consequences can arise from overheating.
