A year after the review of Farming Simulator 17, we are back to talk about the famous agricultural simulator developed by Giants Software. In fact, below we are ready to tell you about the Platinum Edition, which adds new content compared to the original edition.
There is one in the expansion new game map set in South America, which accompanies a drastic change of scenery with many new gameplay possibilities, offering players the most complete experience ever. Not just a new map, but also a chance to grapple with 280 authentic means and agricultural tools from over 80 manufacturers and the new exclusive Platinum Edition brands such as Stara, TT, Randon, FMŻ and Gessner Industries.
There is the possibility of continuing to harvest the usual products such as corn, soybeans and, listen, listen, new entry in the new South American map, the interesting integration of sugar cane cultivation. In this case, the specific machinery for its cultivation were introduced together with the plant. It is also important to add that the climatic conditions of the new setting drastically change compared to classical landscapes.
The appearance of the third parties, so it will be possible to transform hard hours of work into cash, to be spent on purchases or simple rentals of new equipment or livestock.
Unfortunately, the total lack of the four seasons which appears to be clearly fundamental for a game based on agriculture. In fact, the classic variable weather is still present from time to time, often and unlikely passing from a sunset of pure sun at 21.00 (which reminds us of a classic summer) to a blizzard about 12 hours later.
The exchanges of money between supply and demand, the salaries of collaborators and the sale / purchase of products and machinery, continue to be quite far from reality. Surely this allows us to advance faster in the development of our farm (the game, however fun, is very realistic and therefore inevitably boring with long and often present downtime), but it makes everything less realistic than one would expect. In fact, we will still find ourselves getting around 100 euros for selling 3 eggs at the nearest restaurant, or buying a chicken for the modest sum of 75 euros.
As for the part of the menus, the desire on the part of the development team to simplify everything more and more remains firm and decisive. However, this is not enough: it is in fact clear that the menu is still quite complex with the part of the map that unfortunately mixes with the trend of the supply / demand of the products, up to the classic settings menu. In short, it is understandable that this is a complex game, but it would be necessary to review the management aspect by separating it from the part of the game settings. Everything still looks very confusing, but undoubtedly more simplified than previous versions.
In light of the above, perhaps a better dynamic of the expansion was expected, rather than a simple DLC based on the integration of a new map with the simple addition of machinery.
The fundamental aspect of the game undoubtedly remains the mods created by the community, which continue to be a fundamental part of the game. They are capable of making the videogame experience in continuous expansion as well as always different. You can thus try your hand at new machines, tools or maps, so as to make the gaming experience as long as possible.
Farming Simulator 17 Platinum Edition is now available for Playstation 4, PC via the Steam platform e Xbox One. It is not known whether the title will receive additional optimizations for Xbox One X. The expansion is available for purchase separately to unlock new content, if you already have Farming Simulator 17, or bundled with the base title.
Having made the necessary considerations, we define the expansion as a simple official mod of the game, which allows you to try your hand at new climatic conditions, new technologies and new products. However, something already seen with the mods and, probably, not very significant compared to a classic expansion to which fans are used to. It must be said, however, that thanks to these expansions, the game remains very intriguing and long-lived to explore. Which is not a trivial matter, given that we are still talking about a simulator.
