Let's face it: in the last videogame year multiplayer decisively affirmed its supremacy. Just take a quick look at the sales and earnings figures of the most famous battle royale of the moment - Fortnite ($ 126 million) and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (2,5 million copies) - to understand how much people prefer to play online today. compared to a simple single player mode. Roll7 has seen fit to exploit the moment, launching on the market Laser League, a new "sports" title, multiplayer of course, which in some respects is very reminiscent of the masterpiece of the boys of Psyonix Studios, Rocket League. It is available, since yesterday, on Steam (€ 8,99), on the Microsoft store (€ 14,99, but you can also get it for free with the Xbox Game Pass service) and on the PlayStation Store (€ 14,99).
We have tried it on all platforms (as well as in the offices of Digital Bros. a few days ago), but in the last few days we have preferred to test it - or rather, stress it - on mother Sony's flagship console.
In short words, Laser League it's a multiplayer sports arcade futuristic, which tries to detach itself completely from football, giving a completely new and original imprint to the sport. And who knows, maybe one day it could really become a new sport. For now, however, it remains only a simple, but fun video game.
The main goal of Laser League is to be able to laser-shoot the opposing team in the best of three rounds. It will not be easy, we anticipate it, especially initially, when matchmaking will confront you with players of a higher level than yours. Teams made up of two or three players, in 2vs2 or 3vs3 mode. The laser barriers you activate during matches will change constantly your geometric shape, speed of movement and direction, and many times too color. The game will end when all players on the team have been hit. Yes, because you can revive your teammates several times and vice versa: just go to the point where you were touched by the laser beam and you will automatically return to the game. For give gameplay unpredictability the developers have inserted gods laser-bonus, which, if hit at the right time, will reverse the final result of the game.
Of course, before each match you will have the opportunity to choose a character, the style of play to be adopted, the items to wear, and therefore shields, weapons, and above all the special power, teleportation, killer, and so on, which you can, and must, use randomly during the clashes. Additionally, gods will be awarded to you at the end of each game experience points which will then allow you to unlock new ones skin, new arenas - but at the moment only five are available, unfortunately - laser ed emoji.
Laser League is a revolutionary, fun and original title. In our opinion, it will become the videogame phenomenon of the summer. We had a lot of fun taking on friends and other players with laser shots. If you are looking for a title that can keep you company during the long summer holidays, then don't think too much: Laser League is the right game for you.
