The new NBA 2K21 has now been released recently and we got to talk about it in depth in our review, but today comes new details on the features that will be introduced in the next-gen version by DualSense in this title. The new PlayStation 5 controller, in fact, has a feature that makes it extremely peculiar and called "haptic feedback". This function somehow replaces the classic DualShock vibration with a wider range of sensations, from tactile perceptions to unique capabilities for some buttons, such as “adaptive triggers” (for our R2 and L2).
NBA 2K21 will be no exception to making the most of the potential offered by DualSense in a creative way. Some examples of how this will happen were expressed through the PlayStation Blog: first of all, the adaptive triggers will respond differently depending on the fatigue of our characters; during the race we will be able to perceive an increasing resistance to the pressure of the triggers, the more the player in question will have accumulated fatigue. Also, in the course of man marking, the characters with more physical strength will allow us to have less resistance to the pressure of the triggers, or vice versa forcing ourselves to press harder if we are the weakest.
The haptic feedback was instead exploited especially in the case of physical clashes with other players, but in this case it will be a "simple" sensation similar to a vibration; this will however be more or less intense depending on the actual extent of the contrast. In the latter case, it is therefore nothing shocking, especially when compared to other examples previously brought for other games, but it is still additional features that can make NBA 2K21 more "unique" if played with a DualSense. Finally, we remind you that this new title will not allow you to make the free upgrade from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 (or from Xbox One to Xbox Series X), therefore you will necessarily have to wait to buy it for the next generation, or buy the Mamba Edition for the consoles of the current generation, which will give you access to both versions.
