The return under the spotlight of Lucasfilm Games leads to interesting news: after yesterday's announcement, today comes the one related to a new Star Wars game, in development in collaboration with Massive Entertainment, Ubisoft studio.
The game will allow you to explore a open world universe and will mark an important milestone: it will in fact be the first title - based on Star Wars - produced by a company other than Electronic Arts in the last 8 years. Development is still in its embryonic stages: what is now known is that Julian Gerighty (who previously worked on The Division 2) will play the role of creative director, while the game engine will be the Massive's Snowdrop engine.
In this regard, Sean Shoptaw, vice president of Global Games and Interactive Experiences at Disney also spoke:
Electronic Arts has been and will continue to be a strategic and important partner for us now and from now on, but we felt there was room for others as well.
Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, for his part said he was very happy with the thing:
Star Wars is a huge source of motivation that drives us to innovate and push the limits of the medium. Building new worlds, characters and stories that will become part of the Star Wars lore is an incredible opportunity, and we are thrilled to have our Ubisoft Massive studio working alongside Lucasfilm Games to create an original Star Wars adventure that is different from what has been done so far.
Finally, a brief comment from Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm:
These new collaborations will allow Lucasfilm Games members to follow new and exciting ways of telling Star Wars and Indiana Jones in different imaginaries and ways than in our films.
What do you think? What are your expectations for this new Star Wars title?
