Best Nintendo Switch Action Games
Below is the list of the best games for Nintendo Switch belonging to the genre of action games, a genre that usually hosts a large number of titles such as classic third-person action games a la Tomb Raider and even lighter pastimes.
Hades
It is certainly not new, but the arrival of a physical edition dedicated to Nintendo Switch could entice more than one buyer. Hades is one of the best roguelikes out there and undoubtedly the best work of Supergiant Games. It is an experience created not only with love but also with attention to detail, supported by a structure full of upgrades, weapons and many ideas that refresh the session with every game.
- Hades review
Monster hunter rise
Pocket Monster Hunter, only this time it is made ad-hoc for Nintendo Switch. Perfect for those looking for something similar to Monster Hunter World, but to always have with them, with completely new ways to explore and hunt for ever larger prey. Before buying it, however, we recommend that you download and try the free demo.
- Monster Hunter Rise Review
DOOM Eternal
Here we go again: Bethesda and id Software reign supreme when it comes to first person shooter on Nintendo Switch, and DOOM Eternal is no exception. It must be said that it manages to be even more frenetic than its predecessor, but there are obviously those who will see it as an advantage, certainly not as a defect. To improve the aim there is also the possibility of activating the gyroscope. On a graphic level there are always various compromises, but if you play it in tablet mode you will notice them much less.
- DOOM Eternal Switch Review
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a great Musou, as well as a major spin-off of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild. Once again, Tecmo Koei and Omega Force prove capable of managing the intellectual property of others with great skill, refining the technique and the study of the original material. Pay attention only to the repetitiveness and performance of the dock version.
- Hyrule Warriors Review: Age of Calamity
Fenyx Rising Immortals
It was called Gods & Monsters, then it became Immortals Fenyx Rising. It looked a lot like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and in fact still remembers it a lot. The truth is that if you have a Nintendo Switch you must necessarily buy Breath of the Wild, but if you are orphans of the famous Action RPG (because maybe you have finished it several times), you could fall back on one of the latest Ubisoft games, sufficiently appreciated by those who got to play it.
- Immortals Fenyx Rising Review
windbound
Hey, wait, but that looks like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild graphics! Yes, well… the source of inspiration is pretty obvious, but the game still differs in story, objectives and, of course, in its characters. As Kara we will have to survive on an unknown island. A sort of mix between an adventure, an RPG and a survival.
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Paper mario: the origami king
It is really difficult to insert it in a specific genre, we catalog it as an action game only because it is usually the one that includes the most variations. We could also define it as a puzzle game, partly role-playing and partly adventure. At the center is Mario, or rather, the paper version of Mario! We will face the Origami King and his henchmen, but in return we will have several teammates to help us.
A never boring game, with an engaging storyline and always interesting situations to explore.
Crysis remastered
Yes, Crysis runs on Nintendo Switch! The game that has been taken as a test bed for PC hardware for years now lands on the Nintendo Switch in a remastered version. Don't expect big things though: the Nintendo Switch hardware is what it is, and the graphics sector is even lower than it used to be. However, it is an FPS that can be played even after years.
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
CARRION
Okay, if you are even a little sensitive to splatter avoid it like the plague. The retro graphics might be misleading, but CARRION, despite its exploiting only two dimensions, manages to be particularly gory. You step into the shoes of a creature who escaped from a super-secret military laboratory. You will have to make your way by eating everything in your path, releasing your organic matter here and there and absorbing the other experiments. When you munch on humans and hear the screams of fear it really has an effect!
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
BioShock: The Collection
A triad of masterpieces that arrives on Nintendo Switch in the Remastered version (the first two, the third does not objectively need them) including all the additional single player content released over the years. An excellent excuse to replay it and always have it with you thanks to Nintendo Switch.
Borderlands legendary collection
Together with the BioShock collection and that of XCOM 2 (which you can find in the Strategy section) there is also the collection of the first three chapters of Borderlands, another now historical saga that has made of cel-shading and FPS-style battles- Loot-based RPG its strengths. There's even a split-screen mode for two to play locally!
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Nintendo plays dirty by re-proposing a historical chapter of the series, that of 1993 dedicated to the Game Boy, in a new, pucciosissima graphics. Its flagship console breathes new life into the delightful action game that boasts so many features that it deserves to be bought with your eyes closed. But you have to be a fan of the genre. Also because it has nothing to do with Breath of the Wild.
A game full of details, with attention to graphics and satisfying game dynamics.
Astral Chain
The latest effort of PlatinumGames arrives only on Nintendo Switch, and obviously it is the case not to miss it. As a futuristic police officer we will have to unravel the mystery of the invasion, using the living weapons known as the Legion.
DAEMON X MACHINA
An action shooter set in a future based on mechs and battles to the death. After the fall of the moon, humanity relied on an AI to rebuild the world. The arrival of the Immortal race turned the AI itself against its creators. We will join the Reclaimers, a group of elite mercenaries who hunt down the secrets of the Immortals to defeat them once and for all.
Wolfenstein: Youngblood
The first cooperative Wolfenstein also lands on Switch. There is now a certain understanding between Bethesda and Nintendo, and the latest effort that sees the collaboration of MachineGames and Arkane Studios certainly could not fail to arrive on the Japanese console. But see it as an evolution of the saga, also given the RPG drift which in some ways reminds us of that of Far Cry.
- Wolfenstein Review: Youngblood
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night takes Castlevania back in hand, leaving aside only the name but not the identity, thus packaging an undoubtedly solid product that honors the roots of the original.
- Bloodstained review: Ritual of the Night
Cadence of Hyrule - Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda
In addition to winning the award for the video game with the longest title ever, Cadence of Hyrule expertly mixes action and rhythm, obtaining a unique and fun result.
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Assassin's Creed III Remastered
Enhanced with HD rumble, touch screen and portable mode, Assassin's Creed III returns to the fore with an exclusive edition for Nintendo Switch featuring Assassin's Creed Liberation and all DLCs.
ZERO Katana
The developers call it “a neo-noir action-platformer overflowing with style, breathtaking action and instant death combat”, and in fact, trying it out or watching any gameplay video fits the description perfectly. It is one of those classic indie pearls that you can recover for less than € 15 that will still leave its mark.
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Cuphead
What about Cuphead: a small masterpiece, difficult (for some a lot) but stylistically and artistically unique. And incredibly, after a period of Microsoft exclusive, it comes to Nintendo Switch! Don't miss it.
- BUY ONE: Nintendo eShop
Dead Cells
A truly delightful action game with roguelike dynamics, probably one of the best titles of this 2018. And to think that it is an indie production! On the go it's even more delicious.
- Dead Cells Review
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate
It will not be Monster Hunter World but we are satisfied anyway! 14 weapon types, one of the biggest monster casts ever and the ability to play co-op. Among other things, you can import the save games of the 3DS version.
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
The definitive version of Hyrule Warriors, the Nintendo and Koei Tecmo musou in Dynasty Warriors style that includes all maps, missions and 29 playable characters of the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions of the game, as well as all the paid downloadable content.
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
It makes the same compromises as the DOOM port (it shares software house and graphics engine), but still manages to be damn fun. You can also use the Joy-Con sensors to help you aim.
- Wolfenstein 2 Switch Review
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
Bayonetta 1 + 2
If you have not yet had the opportunity to recover these two pearls, the time has come, especially if the Devil May Cry saga brings back pleasant memories (on the other hand, they share the same author). The first is less graphically refined but still defends itself, the second is splendid and even more peasant. Best enjoyed directly on the tablet body; in dock mode it loses some potential.
- Bayonetta 1 + 2 Switch review
- PURCHASE: Amazon
Hyper Light Drifter - Special Edition
The special edition of the acclaimed action game has landed on the Nintendo Switch. It is a very particular title, but it will reward you with an original setting and with mechanics inspired by the best 16-bit classics appropriately modernized.
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Bud Spencer & Terence Hill - Slaps And Beans
The official game dedicated to the iconic duo Bud Spencer and Terence Hill could only be developed. During the month of July 2018 it officially landed also on the Nintendo Shop at € 20 round.
- Bud Spencer & Terence Hill Review - Slaps And Beans
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Payday 2
Payday 2 is its age (it came out in 2013!) But it performs pretty well! This edition dedicated to Switch is a little behind the other versions but in tablet mode, perhaps alongside other console owners, you let it play which is a pleasure.
- Payday 2 Switch review
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
LEGO DC Super Villains
Another great LEGO title to enjoy on the go thanks to Nintendo Switch. Super Villains puts us on the side of the bad guys, lined up against characters even more bad than them. The beauty is that you will be able to create your own bad guy, thanks to the integrated editor, and freely explore some of the most famous settings of the DC Comics universe.
- LEGO DC Super Villains review
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2
It is probably not the best exponent of the action signed LEGO and TT Games, but playing it on the go thanks to Nintendo Switch could give it what is more to convince you to buy.
- LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 review
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
Fire Emblem Warriors
The Fire Emblem saga blends with the typical game elements of the Dynasty Warriors series, offering Musou-style mechanics: frantic action, therefore, with dozens and dozens of enemies to mow down with moves and combos of all kinds.

Best Nintendo Switch Platform Games
One of the most important categories regarding the Nintendo ecosystem. Super Mario Odyssey arrived in December 2017, but there are other viable alternatives that may deserve your attention.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is a must-have package for all Nintendo Switch owners. First of all, Super Mario 3D World is the perfect marriage between the schematic nature of Mario in 2D and the variety of chapters in 3D. Bowser's Fury, on the other hand, is an excellent expansion, despite some tolerable smudges that do not preclude its enjoyment at all. A must have.
Super Mario 3D All-Stars
The genre of the platform video game owes a lot to Super Mario and Super Mario 3D All-Stars, which collects 3 chapters, is the clear proof. Super Mario 64 is a milestone, Super Mario Sunshine continues to be as pleasant as the summer breeze and Super Mario Galaxy embodies the extraordinary and surprising essence of a legendary character who still dictates the law wherever he passes.
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars Review
The game that embodies the extraordinary and surprising essence of a legendary character.
New Super Lucky's Tale
New Super Lucky's Tale is a second period of youth for the Playful Studios creature: this delightful platform title for all ages finds its natural dimension on Nintendo Switch, although its roots lie elsewhere.
- New Super Lucky's Tale Review
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Super Mario Maker 2
Do you love platformers? Are you always looking for new challenges? Create your own from scratch! The sequel to the acclaimed level editor immersed in the Super Mario universe returns more powerful than ever. And if you don't like creating levels, you can play the ones created by other users.
Yoshi's Crafted World
A real treat that will entertain you thanks to well thought out platform mechanics. Each level has its own why, there is nothing out of place, and even from a stylistic point of view the game has its own to say. Highly recommended, also considering that Nintendo Switch more than ever lends itself to welcoming the best platformers currently in circulation.
GREY
Games like GRIS are pure videogame poetry. A unique experience of its kind, drawn and animated by hand. He will be able to excite you thanks to his graphic style, thanks to the music, to the ever-changing story (albeit emblematic), to small details in which you will be able to get lost. And it's cheap too!
- GRIS review
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
Is there really a need for introductions for such a title? It's Super Mario in all its glory, with a collection of over 160 levels to play solo or alongside 3 other friends. Guaranteed fun, as long as you are a fan of the most famous Plumber in video game history.
- PURCHASE: Amazon
A game that appeals to young people and not only them: the number and variety of levels is truly remarkable.
Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom
Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is neither a pale imitation nor a homage to the saga. This is a modern day Wonder Boy in Monster World, devoid of the original license only. It is genuine, it is packaged with care, and every piece is in the right place that you can hardly believe it.
- Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom review
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
If you haven't had a chance to play it on Wii U, it's time to get it back on Nintendo Switch. The version dedicated to the recent Nintendo home console also includes levels of Super Mario Odyssey, and of course it can be played alongside a friend by sharing the Joy-Con.
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
We never thought we would see Crash Bandicoot, a bit of the mascot of the era of the first PlayStation, on a Nintendo console. We have to thank Activision for this: it is an edition that includes all three chapters of the famous marsupial, plus a few welcome extras.
- Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Review
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
He's back, and he's in better shape than ever. If you have already played it on Wii U it may not make much sense to buy it (not talking about so many years ago), but it is still a great platformer
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
celeste
An old school platformer that hides an incredible longevity (over 700 schemata to face), chapters to unlock, a soundtrack consisting of over 2 hours of original music, charismatic characters and an engaging story. It can be yours for less than € 20.
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
the Blob
It almost looks like a Splatoon spin-off, but it's not. It is a 3D platformer in which we control a colored blob, whose goal is to recolor the gray world from the evil INKT Corporation.
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood
An unexpected surprise. Initially launched as an Xbox One exclusive, it is a platform with a really good Pixar movie-like atmosphere, and this version dedicated to Nintendo Switch can only be tempting if you love platformers!
- Max Review: The Curse of Brotherhood
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Super Mario Odyssey
There isn't much to discuss. If you have a Nintendo console on your hands it is because most likely you grew up with the adventures of Mario, and this is probably the best chapter that has ever been produced by the famous Japanese company.
- Super Mario Odyssey Review
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition
Ubisoft, alongside Mario + Rabbids, also launches the Definitive Edition of its flagship platformer on Switch. This edition, designed specifically for Nintendo's hybrid console, allows 4 to play on the same Switch and to face over 100 colorful levels.

Retro style, but high definition graphics, all packaged at 60 fps: Sonic Mania offers dozens and dozens of levels, co-op mode, challenge mode and much more.
- PURCHASE: € 19,99 (Nintendo eShop)
Best Nintendo Switch RPG Games
Here is the list of the best Nintendo Switch games in the RPG genre, role-playing games. Also in this case Nintendo boasts a real tradition for role-playing games, with super famous series such as The Legend of Zelda. And with the latest Zelda this category opens up.
BRAVELY DEFAULT II
“Explore the desert kingdom of Savalon and defeat the owners of the asterisks to gain the power of these mysterious objects”: the opening is very special, but if you love Japanese RPGs you might like it. You will join the 4 heroes of the Light, the only ones able to restore the balance of the world. You should, as in other cases, try the free demo available on Nintendo eShop to see if it can do for you.
The Outer Worlds
Nostalgic for Fallout: New Vegas? Are you looking for a first-person role-playing adventure immersed in a sci-fi setting topped with just the right amount of spatial humor? You are in the right place! The Outer Worlds by Obsidian is also available in pocket edition for Nintendo Switch. The degree of replayability is also not to be underestimated!
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition
Maybe you played it way back in 2011 on the glorious Nintendo Wii. If not, or in the very likely case that you particularly appreciated it at the time, the Definitive Edition arrives on the Nintendo Switch including a new additional story, "A Common Future", of remastered music tracks (the OST was one of the flagship features of the original), improved graphics and gameplay.
A game with flawless graphics, a story full of twists and addicting gameplay.
Minecraft Dungeons
One of the few titles published by Xbox Game Studios to arrive on Nintendo Switch, but on the other hand, Minecraft is a universal game. And even Minecraft Dungeons aims precisely at universality, proposing itself as a simple but layered action RPG, to be played alone or in company, even locally. The introductory price is particularly aggressive!
- Minecraft Dungeons Review

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore
Are you Persona 5 orphans? Have you always wanted to see and play it on Nintendo Switch? Are you passionate about JRPG, especially if related to ATLUS? Then Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore, despite the long and complex title, is a practically obligatory purchase. Like other ATLUS productions, however, it boasts Japanese audio and English subtitles. So watch out!
- Tokyo Mirage Sessions Review ♯FE Encore
DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of a Lost Age - Final Edition
In September 2018, in our review of the PS4 version, we wrote: "a nice gift to those who previously ate Japanese RPGs for breakfast, lunch and dinner". And finally the definitive edition arrives on the platform that should be a reference for JRPGs.
- Dragon Quest XI S review
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition
In our review we called it a little miracle. Lots of graphics compromises (540p in portable mode, dock mode almost unusable) but over 120 hours of game content. We are still talking about one of the best RPGs of recent years condensed into a single game cartridge for Switch.
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition Nintendo Switch review
Ni No Kuni: Threat of the White Witch - Remastered
A videogame pearl of a few years ago that returns in great shape on modern game consoles, including Nintendo Switch. The style of Studio Ghibli combined with the knowledge of LEVEL-5 will project you into a fantasy world characterized by an engaging storyline, many twists and simple but fun game mechanics.
- Ni No Kuni Remastered Review
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
They called it a cross between Persona and Fire Emblem. One thing is for sure, the series is back to its best! The game throws us into an Officers Academy as a professor. Which of the three houses will you drive and what choices will you make along the way?
MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order
Avengers orphans to us! It is not a game inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, although some inspiration is there. It is called "the ultimate Marvel crossover" and mixes elements typical of action games and RPGs. You can only play it on Nintendo Switch!
Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster
A classic of Square Enix's Final Fantasy saga that also lands on Nintendo Switch with improved HD graphics, classic or restored audio and its over 100 hours of gameplay.
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
We had already tried the revised and "corrected" version on PS4, and now you can also play it on the go thanks to the dedicated Nintendo Switch port. It's a huge RPG to say the least, and can be yours for as little as € 30.
- Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen review
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Sword and Shield Pokémon
Sword and Shield is in fact a good chapter of Pokémon that not only feels at home on the Nintendo Switch, but shows how much the formula devised two decades ago still has much more to say, if only it had the time to complete it. The real novelty, however, lies in the Dynamax Raid, a multiplayer mode in which four trainers must work together to challenge and then capture a high-ranking Pokémon.
- Pokémon Sword and Shield review
Diablo 3: Eternal Collection
Blizzard officially debuts on Nintendo Switch with His Majesty Diablo 3, the king of hack and slash. The game sacrifices something when it comes to texture quality, but otherwise it's pretty much flawless. A real drug… pocket-sized!
- Diablo 3 Nintendo Switch review
- PURCHASE: Amazon
WORLD OF FINAL FANTASY MAXIMA
Square Enix is striving to bring more and more of its Final Fantasy titles to Switch, and this is one of the first to officially land on the shop. A different experience than usual but still a lot of fun.
- World of Final Fantasy Review
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop

Banner Saga 1, 2 and 3
A saga that finally comes to an end with its third chapter: a mature trilogy of turn-based role-playing games in the Viking era all painted by hand. Start with the first chapter, also to understand if the genre and type of game is for you.
- PURCHASE: First Chapter | Second Chapter | Third Chapter
Battle Chasers: Nightwar
A very special role-playing game, inspired by the great console classics. The genre is more similar to that of the JRPG, with turn-based combat therefore separated from the exploratory phase.
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
South Park: Dial-ups
In our review of South Park: Di-Retti Clashes, released several months ago, in the Pro - Cons table we complained about the absence of a version dedicated to Nintendo Switch. Luckily Ubisoft has, and has, satisfied you. If turn-based role-playing games are your daily bread, you will spend several dozen hours in the company of this hilarious chapter.
- South Park Review: Di-Straight Clashes
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
Attack on Titan 2
We played it right on the Nintendo Switch, and we really enjoyed it in tablet mode. This is the second video game dedicated to the Attack of the Giants saga, and you can very well start with this: you will create a character from scratch and live the adventures of the saga alongside the most famous characters.
- Attack on Titan 2 review
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
Lost Sphear
An old-fashioned Japanese RPG, and it could only be produced by Square Enix! Kanata, wakes up from a terrible dream and discovers that her city is disappearing. To heal the world, he will have to awaken the power of memories.
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 manages to expose all the strengths and weaknesses of Nintendo Switch. It is a huge RPG, with its own combat system, with its own lore, many characters and an enviable longevity to say the least. In portable mode, however, it destroys your battery and some of your eyes as well. A true enthusiast, however, cannot let it escape.
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
One of the flagship games of the Nintendo Switch 2017 line-up: an “old” role-playing game already seen on countless platforms. Yet Skyrim never goes out of style. The idea of playing it on the go, thanks also to the support of the Joy-Con sensors, is a significant added value.
- Skyrim Nintendo Switch review
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
A masterpiece, period. There isn't much more to say. It is the game that has taken the best score ever among those we have reviewed. On the surface it may seem like a simple game, but it hides an attention to detail and so many game dynamics that even today players are trying to discover them all.
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild review
- PURCHASE: Amazon - ePRICE
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
We give you two great excuses to buy Mario + Rabbids Kingdom for your Nintendo Switch: it's a “Made in Italy” product, more specifically from Ubisoft Milan, and above all it's damn fun. The worlds of Mario and the Rabbids come together in a turn-based strategy, with elements typical of role-playing games, which will keep you glued to the screen for dozens of hours.
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
I Am Setsuna
It is one of the games we mentioned in the introduction, or among those that we have not yet had the opportunity to try on the Switch. However, I Am Setsuna is a classic Japanese-style JRPG, not surprisingly published by Square Enix, which could accompany you for several hours.
- PURCHASE: € 39,99 (Nintendo eShop)

Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

Tetris 99
After trying Tetris 99 you will no longer have to fault the concept of Battle Royale. Reinventing a game so "ancient" but always current and projecting it into the context of real battles seems impossible, but they have succeeded, and it is a real blast. Try it, it's free!

Best Nintendo Switch Racing Games
So we come to the list of the best games for Nintendo Switch in the genre of racing "simulators". Simulators in quotation marks, because the genre usually includes more arcade titles such as the famous Mario Kart, which is not surprisingly the first on this list.
Asphalt 9
The Nintendo Switch version of Gameloft's Asphalt 9… is doing great! It must be said that this is a free-to-play game, therefore supported by waiting times and in-app purchases which, for the main campaign and events, requires an internet connection (but not Nintendo Switch Online). But in fact, the download is free, and locally it is also possible to play offline even in multiple players thanks to the split-screen.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled
The overwhelming power of Mario Kart is difficult to shake, yet Crash Team Racing manages to entertain by offering a ton of tracks, many drivers, online events and a well-kept graphics sector.
Team Sonic Racing
It is useless to go around it too much: it is not up to Mario Kart. However, he is a good exponent of the karting genre who will be able to entertain you with interesting team mechanics and with all the charisma of the SEGA characters.

Horizon Chase Turbo
After a great debut on mobile devices, Horizon Chase also arrives on Nintendo Switch in its version called Turbo. An arcade racing game with fast-paced reimagined 16-bit graphics and extremely fun, especially when played in multiplayer!

MotoGP 20
Developed by Milestone, a software house that has always been involved in videogame transpositions related to the world of motorcycle racing, MotoGP 20 is the sequel to one of the few semi-simulation games dedicated to Nintendo Switch.
- MotoGP review 20
A game with attention to every detail, which provides the opportunity to relive the challenges between great MotoGP champions.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
How do you say? Do you have Nintendo Switch but haven't bought your copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe yet? Bad very bad. In addition to being a super fun racing game, it is one of the best party games currently available for this console. Run and make it yours!

FAST RMX
Unfortunately we have not yet had the opportunity to try it, but we can guarantee that if you are looking for something along the lines of Wipeout, to also play locally (perhaps in portable mode) you must seriously consider purchasing FAST RMX. Among other things, it also costs the right!
- PURCHASE: € 19,99 (Nintendo eShop)
Cars 3: Race for Victory
We could easily define it as an excellent alternative to Mario Karts. It is a title aimed at children and fans of the Cars saga, but it manages to give a hard time even to more experienced players at high difficulties. And on the move it's a blast!
- Cars 3 Review: Race to Win

Best Nintendo Switch Sports Games
Finally we can also inaugurate the sports section dedicated to Nintendo Switch. 2K Games and EA have shown interest in Nintendo's new platform, but we could see many more titles coming in the coming months.
Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions
A great game! Obviously this is a much more arcade experience than some more famous football simulators, but that's also why we like it. Thanks to the story mode it is possible to relive part of Tsubasa's career. Otherwise it is possible to create a character from scratch and face an alternative career.
Mario Tennis Aces
It is strange to place it in the sports genre, but Mario Tennis Aces should certainly not be underestimated. The single player campaign is short (it will only take you a few hours to unlock everything), but the real fun is with and against your friends.

FIFA 20
Electronic Arts football returns to Nintendo Switch again this year. It will not have the same game content present in the PC, PS4 and Xbox One version, but it does not miss practically anything. A must have, if you are obviously passionate about the genre.
NBA 2K21
2K Games is now a guarantee for basketball games. This year's iteration also lands on Nintendo Switch, but be careful, you will need a nice capacious microSD if you choose the digital version.

Best Nintendo Switch Casual Games
The casual genre is enriched every month with a large number of titles. These are games suitable for everyone who can still reserve a large number of hours of play.
Spiritfarer
We didn't know which category to put it in. We could define it as a mix between an adventure and a management. In the role of the ferryman of the dead, we will build a boat to explore the world, to take care of our spirit friends and lead them across mystical seas to the coveted beyond life. We warn you: we will be moved.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Already a sales champion a few days after its launch, the new chapter of Animal Crossing offers the usual winning formula of the series with many new features. An innocent pastime that entertains us with simple yet layered mechanics.

Untitled Goose Game
In this game you play a goose ... a bad goose to be exact. The protagonist goose lives in a country full of people who just want to live their quiet life. Too bad that the ferocious beast, commanded by you, little sadists b ***** i, will do everything to put the sticks (or the beak) in the wheel at all. To be bought only to be able to repeat the special button to squawk.
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Farming Simulator 20
Farming Simulator lands on Nintendo Switch with an ad-hoc chapter that owes a lot to Farming Simulator 2019. It is a "compressed" gaming experience compared to the PC and console counterpart, but no less fun or rewarding, indeed. Given the portable nature of the Switch, such a version is more than apt!
- Farming Simulator 20 review
ABZU
An underwater adventure lasting a few hours which, however, knows how to entertain you and, above all, knows how to amaze you. The ocean floor will leave you speechless.
- ABZU review

Super Mario Party
There is little to discuss: when it comes to party game Super Mario Party, the recent incarnation of the series dedicated to Switch, has practically no rivals. 80 all new mini-games divided into many modes, with the possibility of playing solo (to train and unleash your skills at the right time) or in company. You can also play as a team!

Cities: Skylines - Nintendo Switch Edition
Since EA is not currently exploiting the Sim City brand properly, Paradox Interactive thinks with its Cities: Skylines to offer us a nice city building simulator. This is an edition made specifically for your Switch!
- PURCHASE: Nintendo eShop
Mini Metro
It will also be a casual game, but you will come to the end of the Switch's autonomy with still wanting to play it. A real portable drug that you can also find on smartphones and tablets.

Dragon Quest Builders 2
One thing is not missing on the Nintendo Switch: the sandboxes! Dragon Quest Builders 2 by Bandai Namco is just the latest among those landed on Nintendo's hybrid console, and brings with it part of the Dragon Quest lore and mechanics that mix components typical of RPGs and sandboxes.
Pac-Man Championship Edition II Plus
Pac-Man is a real institution, but it is a game that now has its years on its shoulders. Precisely for this reason we were pleasantly surprised to discover the potential of the Championship Edition II Plus recently landed on Nintendo Switch. Excellent cooperative mode that exploits the true potential of the Nintendo hybrid console.
- Pac-Man Championship Edition II Plus review
- PURCHASE: € 19,99 (Nintendo eShop)
Portal Knights
It is the same magical adventure that we have already faced on other gaming platforms. It loses a bit in fluidity (due to the technical limitations of the console), but it gains in portability, as well as any other title dedicated to Switch. The introductory price is one of its further strengths.
- Portal Knights Review
- PURCHASE: € 29,99 (Nintendo eShop)
Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition
The most famous and most played sandbox of all time also arrives on Nintendo Switch. We are obviously talking about Minecraft, which on the Nintendo hybrid console comes with special packages dedicated to Super Mario, with the possibility of playing in split-screen and much more.
- PURCHASE: € 29,99 (Nintendo eShop)
LEGO Worlds
If you love sandboxes but Minecraft is not for you, do not worry, there is the sandbox signed by LEGO and TT Games waiting for you. In LEGO Worlds you will be dealing with a single player campaign that will explain the main game dynamics and the tools you can use. Then you can indulge yourself by creating everything that suits you best, obviously using bricks of all kinds!

Best Nintendo Switch Fighting Games
The fighting game genre is not to be underestimated on a console with portable capabilities like the Nintendo Switch. In addition, Nintendo itself has tried to revolutionize the genre with one of its flagship titles for the Switch.
Mortal Kombat 11
NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. have made it big for the new chapter of Mortal Kombat. In fact, there is also a version dedicated to Nintendo Switch with all the game contents. And there is also the physical version to buy!
- Mortal Kombat 11 review (coming soon!)
Dragon Ball FighterZ
Finally, one of the best fighting games of recent months also lands on Switch. If you like even a minimum Dragon Ball is a practically obligatory purchase.

NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Ultimate Ninja STORM Trilogy

Pokkén Tournament DX
It is a version of the video game of the same name revisited and expanded just for the Nintendo Switch. Obviously, there is also the possibility to challenge each other locally.

Dragonball Xenoverse 2
The excellent fighting game signed Bandai Namco finally arrives also on Nintendo Switch, bringing with it high-quality three-dimensional fights immersed in the incredible universe of Akira Toriyama. Also in this case there is the possibility to play with a friend locally, or up to a maximum of 6 Nintendo Switch connected together.

ARMS
It is one of Nintendo's new IPs, exclusive of course for Switch. It is a game that seeks to revolutionize the genre by allowing the player to simulate punches using Joy-Con. Don't think it's a fighting game without a minimum of rules: you'll have to work hard to master the various characters!
- PURCHASE: Amazon | ePRICE
Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers
A cast of respectable characters, obviously taken from Super Street Fighter II, including two new entries; graphics selectable between classic pixel art or revisited modern look; also perfect for two to play on the same Switch. In short, a little gem of the past that returns to make the big voice on Switch.

Best Nintendo Switch Online Games
Slowly the games section is also starting to populate, which will enrich the Nintendo Switch online sector, even if there are already the first controversies regarding the application to be installed on smartphones to take advantage of voice chat, for example.
Overwatch
Since 2016 he has been setting the law among online shooters, with millions of players all over the world and an eSports tournament with thousands of dollars up for grabs and exciting matches in real stadiums. Overwatch arrives in pocket version on Nintendo Switch, with all the pros and cons of the case. Enjoying it on the move, however, is a real pleasure, if you are willing to sacrifice some graphic factors.
- Overwatch Nintendo Switch review
Realm Royale
If you are looking for a decent alternative to Fortnite that is immersed in a fantasy context then you should try Realm Royale from the authors of Paladins.
- Download: Nintendo eShop
Warframe
Warframe also makes its Nintendo Switch debut, and the download, as well as other online games, is free. It is a very popular sci-fi MMO that is particularly huge, both in terms of the open world and in terms of game content.

Paladins
Hi-Rez Studios beat Blizzard by bringing its Paladins to Nintendo Switch. The software house during the last days of July made the game free for everyone, allowing access to anyone without spending a cent.

Fortnite
Nintendo Switch is increasingly populated with online games, including the highly played (and very popular) Fortnite, in an edition that has nothing to envy to the others. There is also cross-play, but not with PS4 users.

Rocket League
Another port of a title that certainly doesn't need too many presentations. Rocket League has also landed on Nintendo Switch at a particularly greedy price (€ 19,99) with practically all the features of the versions dedicated to PC and Console with exclusive skins dedicated to the Nintendo ecosystem.
- PURCHASE: € 19,99 (Nintendo eShop)
Splatoon 2
One of the recent new IPs signed by Nintendo, a brilliant idea that has materialized in one of the funniest online shooters of recent years. Suitable for young and old, Splatoon 2 is presented as a "revised, corrected and expanded" version of the first chapter, a must buy for Nintendo's hybrid console.

Best Nintendo Switch Adventure Games
Another section that we hope to gradually populate with more and more titles.
Little Nightmares 2
Tarsier Studios are back with a second installment of Little Nightmares! If you've played the first one you probably won't have missed it. Otherwise, know that it is a story unrelated to the events of the first. The new "hero" is called Mono and is a boy who wakes up lost in a forest: he has a paper bag on his head and is attracted to television screens.
- Little Nightmares 2 review
Blacksad: Under the Skin
The life of a black cat in 50s New York is not easy at all, especially when you find yourself having to go in search of a large runaway dog, reversing the usual hierarchical order of the animal kingdom. This is the beginning of the Blacksad point and click adventure!
- Blacksad Review: Under the Skin
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince
A real interactive fairy tale. Trine 4 returns to its origins by proposing a delicious adventure characterized by a commendable artistic direction and at the same time filled with puzzles to be solved in an entirely two-dimensional context. In short, a classic, which does not differ much from what the series offers, but it is a classic that still works great, especially on Switch.
- Trine Review 4
A game with an exquisite fairytale narrative, full of puzzles and secrets.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
In our review we defined it as suffocating, evocative, with a great aesthetic impact, “an inner audiovisual journey into the maze of psychosis, pain and sacrifice, aware of the limits of interactivity with which it has to live”.
- Hellblade Review: Senua's Sacrifice

The Raven Remastered
An old-fashioned investigative adventure clearly inspired by the works of Agatha Christie (especially the Murder on the Orient Express and consequently investigator Hercule Poirot) remastered and also brought to Nintendo Switch.

Firewatch
After a more than moderate success on other platforms, with paying audiences and critics agreeing on the quality of this particular adventure, Firewatch also lands on Nintendo Switch. The price is particularly attractive, € 19,99.

Last Day of June
The moving adventure of Ovosonico finally arrives also on Nintendo Switch. There is some uncertainty on a technical level, but we will gladly close an eye to an adventure that will remain within it thanks to its soundtrack.

INSIDE
Inside is a journey into darkness, in which the player plunges into the deepest abysses, until he is breathless at what will appear assiduously before his eyes: a mixture of emotions, from terror to liberation, offered by a video game, without a shadow of a doubt, memorable.

LA Noire
Difficult to place it under a single genre: adventure, open world, action, there are many genres that could describe it. The game dates back to 2011 but Rockstar Games has decided to bring it back also in Switch format. And despite the past years, we can assure you that he still lets himself be played which is a pleasure.
- LA Noire review

Thimbleweed Park
An adventure with a classic mold, and the reason is obvious: behind the development are hiding (in plain sight) none other than Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick, creators of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion. A business card that should be more than enough to justify the purchase.
- PURCHASE: € 19,99 (Nintendo eShop)
Best Nintendo Switch Strategy Games
Little by little, the catalog dedicated to Switch is also being enriched with strategic titles. Let's take a look at the best ones currently available!
XCOM 2 Collection

SMITE
Also suitable for the action game genre, SMITE is a MOBA with a third-person view. Unlike the others belonging to the genre, the camera directly follows the character controlled by the player. For the moment it is in early access (for a fee).

Civilization VI
Does Sid Meier's strategy really need any introduction? If so, it's a turn-based strategy where the goal is to build an empire that can stand the test of time. And this sixth chapter on Switch works pretty damn well!
- PURCHASE: Amazon
Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics
The Cthulhu universe born from Lovecraft's pen projected in the middle of the Second World War. Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics is a rather complex turn-based strategy that will put us in the shoes of an outnumbered allied commando squad.

Nintendo Switch upcoming games
As with the other consoles, Nintendo Switch also welcomes on a practically weekly basis a lot of new games published both by Nintendo itself and by many other software houses, independent and otherwise. Indeed, over the months Switch has become a real port of welcome for an incredible number of ports and indie games.
Many labels, moved by the particular configuration of the console and the different taste for video games that characterizes Nintendo fans, have chosen Switch to launch their new flagship titles. To know what they are the games coming to Nintendo Switch you just have to follow ours gaming section on EpicTrick.
How do we choose the games?
We simply choose the video games to be included in the list among those we have tried with hand or reviewed, in order to be sure of the quality. Among those reviewed we usually list those that received 8 out of 10 as a final grade. What drives us to positively evaluate the titles that we review here on the pages of EpicTrick?
- Screen: a fundamental feature for a game, and this Nintendo knows it well. Many of his titles may not boast an exceptional graphics engine, but in terms of plot and emotions they are second to none.
- Longevity: let's not turn around too much, video games cost, and investing large sums in games that last a few hours does not drive anyone crazy.
- Graphics: the eye also wants its part. Before we mentioned the fact that some Nintendo titles do not have incredible graphics engines, but it also depends a lot on the care with which certain things are handled so yes, we also evaluate the graphics!
- gameplay: graphics ok, longevity at the top, plot here we are, but the gameplay? Obviously the playability of a title, and perhaps innovation, are essential points for the evaluation of a title.
- Price: last but not least the sale price. Yes, because some games may be lower than others, but if they also boast lower prices it is good to take this into account.
