Doom Eternal has recently shown itself to the public in all its violence and plethora of available content, among which we find numerous collectibles and even a secret weapon: the Unmaykr. It is an extremely powerful weapon that Id Software was supposed to introduce it in the first Doom under the name Unmaker but that was eventually brought to light only with Doom 64. It was initially extremely rare as it could only appear in very few locations, but once obtained it would have paid off the efforts made in research.
Even in the case of this new Bethesda masterpiece obtaining this prodigious weapon will not be easy at all: to recover it you will have to complete one of the most difficult parts of the game, namely the Slayer Gate (but also in this case the commitment will be amply repaid). There are six secondary challenges, hidden in some levels of the game, in which you will have to face complex hordes of enemies. To better address them, we leave you some small useful tips below:
- always stay on the move so as to avoid enemy shots as much as possible
- do not abuse health packs but rather take advantage of the healing provided by enemies killed by executions
- take advantage of the blue portals, which cannot be crossed by demons, to regroup and catch your breath
- wisely adapt your style of play to the challenge you face without being afraid of having to repeat it more than once (in this case the trial and error can also help)
As anticipated above each of the six gates will be located in a particular mission, and in order to access them you will also need the corresponding key, which fortunately is always located near it. You can find it below the list of the six missions useful for the recovery of Doom Eternal's Unmaykr and a guide with photos of the relative maps with the position of Slayer Gate and key.
1) Exultia
Gate: in the highest part of the section with the platforms floating on the lava.
Key: starting from the gate, proceed immediately into the cove on the right to find yourself in an area with a refill for the dash placed in mid-air; you will have to reach the highest part and use the dash (also using the recharge) to reach the part placed in front of you, immediately after you will see the key on a platform below you.
2) Cultist base
Gate: immediately in front of the room with the huge crucified demon.
Key: from the room with the demon, turn towards him, lean left to see a point to which you can cling, from here all you have to do is turn around and continue along the path using other walls on which you can climb and your dash to reach the key.
3) Super Gore Nest
Gate: easily identifiable in the large open area with lava.
Key: leave the blue key on the altar and head towards the starting area: you will find a large structure made of meat inside which there will be a platform that will launch you into the air; all you have to do is locate the climbing wall and use it. From this point, simply follow the path until you find the key.
4) Complex of arches
Gate: visible from the convention center lobby.
Key: leaving the gate behind you will find yourself in front of the central area of the Convention center and in front of a destroyed bridge; on your right you will see a climbing wall, all you have to do is go up it and reach the key behind you with a dash.
5) Mars Core
Gate: in the Union Aerospace building that you will find towards the end of the level.
Key: from the Slayer Gate go back to the main room and position yourself in front of the key located at the top, from this point proceed to the left until you find a small raised platform and from this you can jump to an air duct (breaking its grate); once inside you will easily find the key in front of you.
6) Taras Nabad
Gate: continuing in the mission, and after completing the second puzzle with the switches, you will reach an area similar to sewers with an elevator; the gate will be immediately in the path on your left.
Key: Complete the puzzle with the radioactive water (destroying the green walls) to the right of the elevator to clear the area and reach the bottom, from here you can easily reach the key and then return to the gate.
For every Slayer Gate completed in Doom Eternal you will receive an Empyrean key (and three weapon points to upgrade your arsenal), and once you have all six keys you can proceed to the easy part: recovering the Unmaykr. The weapon will in fact be located in the Fortress of Destiny, home of our fully explorable Slayer and HUB from which you can start missions.
Starting from the main room of the fortress you simply have to go through one of the two doors behind you and go down the three consecutive flights of stairs that you will find in front of you to reach the central part of the map. Doom Eternal's Unmaykr will be there waiting for you on a special altar with which you will have to interact twice (to remove the safety and then take the weapon).
The Unmaykr in Doom Eternal has the following stats:
- 10-150 damage per hit.
- Magazine of 20 rounds up to a maximum of 40.
- Use power cells as ammo.
- With each shot fired it emits three bullets into a cone in front of it.
