The creator of the Dragon Quest series, Yuji Horii, during the closing speech of the Dragon Quest X Fall Festival 2020 held on October 30th, announced the arrival of new announcements for the iconic JRPG saga that will celebrate its 2021th anniversary in 35.
Here are Horii's words:
Thanks a lot for today to all of you. Next year the series is set to celebrate its 35th anniversary and I believe we will be able to make all sorts of announcements about that. There is still a lot of fun to expect in Astoltia! Please continue to support the saga in the future. Thank you!
There are several well-known projects that Square Enix is working on and which, most likely, will receive updates in 2021. We list them below.
Infinity Strash - Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai (Dai's Adventure) - announced in May of this 2020, the game looks like a action RPG based on the anime and manga series of the same name. We are not yet aware on which platforms it will be published, we only know that in Japan the expected release date is 2021.
Dragon Quest XII - the development of this title was confirmed for the first time in June 2019 and in January 2020 Yuji Horii updated the situation by declaring that we will have to wait a little longer for the release. Such a statement could therefore rule out a possible release in 2021, but could suggest the official reveal.
New HD Title - Also in June 2019 Square Enix was engaged in the search for new staff for the development of a "new HD title" of the series, with the goal of creating a new appearance for Dragon Quest and making it admired by fans around the world. This game is still shrouded in mystery, although many believe it to be Dragon Quest XII.
Dragon Quest Monsters New Title - for the announcement of this game we have to take a step back, or in November 2018, when Square Enix declared the development of a new Dragon Quest Monsters for consoles, whose protagonists would be none other than Erik and Mia of Echoes of a Lost Age in a younger version. Unfortunately, however, in January 2020 the producer Taichi Inuzuka declared that the game was facing a rather troubled development. Since then, unfortunately, we have not received any news.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels Of The Starry Skies - the last game on the list is the possible remake of this title, which was one of the most acclaimed protagonists during the live streaming of the 10th anniversary of the game in July 2019.
We must therefore expect a lot of news in 2021 for the award-winning JRPG saga. Stay tuned to our pages to not miss any updates!
