Ghost of Tsushima was undoubtedly one of the best titles of this last period, thanks to a fun and elaborate combat system, an interesting plot and, to top it all, a magnificent (and particularly inspired) graphics sector; it is therefore no mystery why the news of a cooperative mode, called Legends, was a welcome surprise for those who have had the opportunity to love this title. We have only recently known that this new introduction will be made available starting from October 16th, totally free for all owners of the base game thanks to the update 1.1.
Since its announcement, however, there hasn't been much information regarding this new Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, except for some details such as the absence of microtransactions. Today, however, along with the announcement of the official release date, we discover some new details on this highly anticipated mode. Let's start with the basics first: a number of trophies will be added and to play Legends with other players you will need to have an active PlayStation Plus subscription. After downloading update 1.1 you will notice the presence of a new character in different locations on the island of Tsushima called Gyozen the bard, who will have some interesting legends to tell you.
Speaking with Gyozen, or through the main menu, as well as directly through an invitation received, you will gain access to the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends lobby and here you can organize yourself with your partner (s) to better face the mission. We specify this because this new mode includes main missions for up to two players, as well as a four-player survival mode and, also four-player, Raid mode (complex missions divided into three parts) which will be released in the following weeks. Survival seems to be not as simple as one might expect, but rather enriched by some "blessings" that will help us in the clashes (such as summons or setting enemies on fire) and by ever increasing rewards.
The most important novelty of this mode is however the presence of different classes from which you can choose, and which will have different bonuses. However, the unlocking of these classes will be linked to your level: you will have the possibility to choose the first one to get after the tutorial, while the following ones can be unlocked by leveling up (a bit like seen with the Anthem javelins). The four classes present will then have several unique skills unlocked right away, but it will be possible to obtain new ones as we gain experience (in addition to obtaining specific and non-interchangeable amulets). In addition there will be no matchmaking limitations related to the selected characters, so you can play all with the one of the same type, or all with different varieties. The available classes are:
- Samurai: This type of character can throw himself headlong into fights, keeping his health high and while slicing anything he comes across. The final attack is called Hachiman's Fury, and will allow you to pierce your enemies with deadly slashes.
- Cacciatore: the classic ranged class, a character expert in the use of the bow able to use explosive arrows against enemies and, in extreme cases, use the final attack Eye of Utchitsune, able to shoot multiple arrows aiming directly at the head of enemies.
- Ronin: The main utility of this character is his healing abilities as well as his ultimate Izanami's Breath ability, capable of bringing your entire team back to life. In case healing your allies isn't enough, the Ronin will also be able to summon a spirit in the form of a dog to aid him in battle.
- murderess: The deadliest class of all, capable of dealing massive damage with a single attack and capable of using Shadow Strike, quickly teleporting across the battlefield to eliminate its enemies.
To all this is then added the presence of new cosmetic items to unlock, such as armor, masks and emotes, details that will absolutely be shared using the Photo mode also present here. In short, this Ghost of Tsushima: Legends promises a huge amount of content capable of exponentially increasing the hours of play to devote to this title. One thing not only valid for the update itself, but also for the promise of long-term support thanks to the Raids (and we could probably find more to expect in the future, considering how much the developers are focusing on this title).
