La Travel Forge in Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of a Lost Era (of which you can find the review here) is a really important element to improve your in-game inventory and face all the hostilities of the game more easily.
The Forge is available from the earliest stages of the game (but not before the second character enters the party) and can be used to create new weapons, armor and accessories thanks to the materials and recipes that can be found in the game world. It is also possible upgrade your equipment with the Forge using one or more Pearls of the perfectionist.
Each piece of equipment can be a basic level (the same as for items bought in stores) or at higher levels: +1, +2 or +3 as the maximum level. Higher quality items will grant a stat boost at the same time, an increase in value. As mentioned previously, to improve an object it will be necessary to use the Perfectionist's Pearls and then select the option to work the object, choosing what you want to work on.
At this point we will find ourselves in front of a minigame: it will be necessary to keep an eye on the working temperature and try to hit the illuminated area of each bar to have the best forging possible. Initially the process will seem very random, but by leveling up you will be able to acquire skills that will allow you to perform special shots and at the same time increase your Concentration points (which are used to perform these moves) and therefore obtain the much-desired "Perfect" judgment, which guarantees the achievement of level +3.
To get the Perfectionist Pearls, which will allow us to reforg items of quality +2 or lower, just forge a new piece of equipment, therefore it is important to use the Forge at each camp, also because the number of pearls required to reforge items will increase as you progress through the game. You can also buy them at theAcademy of Medals (where you will also collect the prizes for the collection of mini-medals).
An excellent move to do, in case you are about to sell items and have some leftover pearls, is to reforge the pieces that will then be sold, in order to earn more money; Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age requires enough money to purchase new gear in each city.
