In Persona 5 Royal, several endings are available, including those already present in Persona 5 and two unreleased ones in the Royal version. In this short guide we will list these endings and how to get them. Although it is clear from the title of the article, we still want to warn you of plot-related spoilers. Additionally, in this guide we will provide support regarding Persona 5 Royal's unreleased game content.
Persona 5 Royal features a playable quarter that runs from January to March, although - to be more precise - the last day we can check on Akira in her spare time is February 2nd. During the month of January, if platinum is one of your goals or if you are playing on a high difficulty level, it is essential to unlock the third stage of the Personae of the other Phantom Thieves.
To do this, that Confidant must already be at the maximum rank. If this condition is met, during your free time your teammates will let you know that they need to talk to you, each of them separately. This means that you will have to set aside an afternoon for each Phantom Thief, with the exception of Morgana (as the event happens by default), Akechi and Kasumi. Unlocking the third stage allows Phantom Thieves to gain possession of a unique ability or spell not otherwise obtainable.
During your run you will have noticed that Kasumi's Confidant stops at 5 and marks him as “Max !!”, but from January onwards the second part of her Confidant will be unlocked, just keep spending time with her. Raise the rank to the max and wait for the day when you have to steal the treasure of the final enemy to witness an event for Kasumi in which she will awaken the third Person.
A very similar speech applies to Akechi who will have the awakening of the new Person the night before the final battle. In his case, however, it will be necessary to make some choices during Shido's narrative arc. In summary, you have to choose to "keep the promise" to Akechi shortly after the encounter with him on the cruise. Finally, a short event will take place after completing the Palace where Akira will mull over what happened to Akechi before sleeping. Choose the second option to play it safe and find Akechi in a team with the third Person.
That said, there really isn't much you can do during the month of January. You can use the free time to bring the remaining Confidants to the maximum, especially those in the evening, or go to the Jazz Club with a teammate to strengthen his persona (on some days, as indicated by Mona, there will also be a live singer to the local that will further boost the statistics) and the link with its user. The Jazz club is only open at night, perfect for taking Kasumi's Confidant to the max, free only during the day in Kichijoji. If you need to focus even more on the evening Confidants, you can visit the temple by day and increase the bond with Confidants not present during the day through an offering. If you have not yet taken the silver trophy "A wise disguise", obtainable by finishing first in the school exams, this is the best time as there will be one last exam session before the end of the new ATLUS JRPG. If you need a hand to maximize Knowledge or other Social Skills, follow this guide.
As for the rest, it is up to you to decide how to dedicate the remaining time. The new quarter is a great time to do some general trophy clean up and more. Let's move on to the endings now, so only read if you're ready for Royal Edition plot spoilers.
To enter the new quarter, you must first take the positive route in the original version. If Persona 5 Royal is your first experience, we reveal how to achieve the basic positive ending in the meantime.
After the infiltration of the Sae Palace, you will find yourself with her in the interrogation room, where the answers you will give will be vital. In fact, if you have followed the plot carefully, it's all very simple. What matters is not to leak any information about Akira or his teammates, rather to make Sae guess that indeed there was a traitor and that this is Akechi. The game will then continue until December 24th, the day in which you will choose whether to accept the proposal of the fake Igor or not. Obviously you will have to decline if you want to continue the plot.
Said this, finally we will be in the new narrative arc, where there are two endings: Good and True Ending. Given that both endings unlock the gold trophy "The path I have chosen", the events will obviously be different. On February 2nd, at night, you will be visited at the Leblanc by a certain person, who, after a chat with Akira, will ask him to accept a particular offer or not. Accepting allows you to unlock Good Ending, skipping directly until March 15th. If you refuse, on February 3rd you will have to face the final battle and attend numerous events and dialogues. The closing movie of True Ending will be very similar to the ending of Persona 5, albeit altered with different and interesting scenes.
