Reigns: Game of Thrones is the "Game of Thrones" themed adaptation of a lucky 2016 game created for the mobile market, Reigns precisely, in which we will be called to govern a medieval kingdom with a formula that is halfway between a game book and… Tinder!

Yes, because all of our decisions (let's not forget that the game was born on mobile) will be made by sliding the card in question to the right or left, as in the famous social dating site, where a direction means our consent to a determined action, given order, advice, etc., while the opposite direction sees us opposed to that particular event.

Reigns: Game of Thrones, developed by Nerial and published by Devolver Digital, resumes in all respects the form of the original title, embellishing it with the characters, the settings and, fundamentally, the situations seen in the very successful serial numbered HBO.

Although later we will be able to decide independently which of the nine sovereigns in the game we want to play, the first game always starts by seeing us in the role of Daenerys Targaryen just after conquering King's Landing. From then on it will be our turn, through our decisions, try to reign for more Moons (the calculation of the time in the series, presumably corresponding to about a month) as possible and, but only optionally, do not make a mess of our territories and those who live there. But that, as always seen in Game of Thrones, it's really a detail!

Despite the apparent simplicity of the game, we will find ourselves dying, often very badly, over and over again. The games, always given the mobile origin of Reigns: Game of Thrones, will very often be very fast. However, once a King / Queen dies, another is made, starting from the beginning without problems, perhaps selecting a new sovereign.

As already mentioned, the available sovereigns are nine. All the characters we will meet are very well known by fans of the saga and, although the game is placed in a sort of alternative timeline compared to the serial, however placed between the taking of King's Landing and the battle with the White Walkers, the dynamics between of them, and consequently how they will react to our decisions, are the same as the original series. So, to fully appreciate every nuance of Reigns: Game of Thrones, it is essential that you have followed the TV series or read the books.

This does not mean that the game cannot be enjoyed even by those who are fast of Game of Thrones, but to understand, for example, why Jamie Lannister is upset if he is made Hand of the Kingdom by his brother Tyrion, which is not explained in the game. , gives the experience a noticeable edge. To do, and this is the case to say, as a fil-rouge among the various rulers that we will install on the Throne of Swords is Melisandre the Red Priestess, who will comment on the deeds of each deceased king at the beginning of a new cycle.

Technically, very little can be said about Reigns: Game of Thrones. The graphics are super minimalist, but both the environments and the characters are characterized almost to perfection. You will never find it difficult to recognize a character of thickness, rather than another. The sound is also excellent, faithfully reproducing the music and the now famous main theme of the series.

In terms of playability, Reigns: Game of Thrones wins above all for the immediacy of understanding and use. Although we will practically only have to move a card to the right or to the left, the situations that will arise (always dependent on our choices) will always be varied and intriguing and the level of challenge, not frustrating but not too permissive, ensures a good longevity to the game. .

Reigns: Game of Thrones is a well-made and rather fun title but, despite a certain complexity of dynamics, we always remember that it is little more than a jewish harp. Immediate, fun, sometimes even engaging, but still a game intended to be played in dead times, at lunchtime or on the metro. Still worth every penny, especially if you are a fan of the Game of Thrones saga!
