Trying to survive wasn't enough.
Rise of the Tomb Raider has a total of 18 different challenges, scattered across almost all maps in the game:
Syria - 1 challenge
Siberian Lands - 1 challenge
Soviet base - 4 challenges
Geothermal Valley - 5 challenges
Acropolis - 1 challenge
Scientific Base - 1 challenge
Path of the Immortals - 1 challenge
The Lost City - 4 challenges
In the following lines we will explain, step by step, the actions to follow to complete all the Challenges. Many of them require special equipment, so it would be advisable to undertake the various challenges once you have finished the main story, since it will still be possible to roam the entire game area, undisturbed.
Rise of the Tomb Raider Challenges

Syria - Hang them higher
You will have to hit the 7 censers scattered around the Syrian tomb. As soon as you enter the tomb you will find one on your left and one on the right:
After raising the water level, you can hit two more: one to your right and the other up in front of you:
After passing the trap under the tomb, you will find the last three censers just ahead of you, on the left above the ledge and just below the tomb:

Siberian Lands - Catch and go
This unusual challenge will ask you to loot a total of three corpses. It is the easiest challenge in the game. Take out the enemies in the wastes and plunder their remains.

Soviet Base - In the dark
Explore five caves on the Soviet Base. To complete it, you just need to enter five of the eight caves present and / or the two crypts. Just enter and walk for a while, until the progress of the challenge is reported. Follow the map below to find out the location:
Soviet base - Data corruption
Destroy 10 red laptops in the Gulag. If you miss any, don't worry, you can go back and retrieve them. The red dots on the map indicate their position:
Soviet base - Difference of opinion
Burn all 7 posters on the Soviet base. It is possible to burn them all using Molotov cocktails, but it is advisable to complete this challenge after obtaining the fire arrows. Clear the whole area of enemies so you have fewer distractions.

Soviet Base - Capture the flag
Remove 7 Soviet flags. It can only be completed after acquiring the "combat knife". The flags are scattered throughout most of the base region. You can find them here:

Geothermal Valley - A game of chickens
Catch five chickens and bring them back to the chicken coop. This challenge is also not very complicated and can be completed in no time. In fact, in the village there is a fence in which you are asked to bring back (throwing them) five of the chickens missing for the map. In the village itself there are many, but if you miss any, you can find others around, but we are sure there will be no need. The fence in question is close to the scarecrow, as shown in the image below:
Geothermal Valley - Launch of pumpkins
In the village to the east, some pumpkins can be equipped and thrown at enemies. Outside the play area, however, there are some open barrels inside which you are asked to throw these pumpkins. In the map below the orange dots show the position of the barrels, while the larger circle of the same color indicates the position of the pumpkins:
Geothermal Valley - Diving from above
Perform a total of 4 dives using the special platforms scattered around the valley. To complete the challenge you will have to launch yourself from some heights and press the dodge key shortly after the flight. The protrusions are made of wood and have red paint spots. You can find them near the large waterfall in the upper part of the village to the west; where Lara was asked to light a signal fire; outside the tomb of Kitezh; and finally at the bottom of the map, on a watchtower.
Geothermal Valley - Center of the target
Center 8 targets using the arrows. In the Geothermal Valley some targets have been scattered that you will have to hit with your bow, trying to hit the red part in their center. Once done, the target will fall to the ground and you can move on to the next one. Most of the targets are in the westernmost part of the map:
Geothermal Valley - Hanging out to dry
Cut the rope and free six rabbits left to dry. This challenge also needs the knife to finish.

Acropolis - Interrupted Communications
Destroy the 6 walkie-talkies in the Acropolis encampment. The radios in question hang from the shed roofs and dangle. They are a bit scattered all over the map:

Scientific base - scorched earth
Destroy 4 fuel tanks. The first three tanks are found at the very beginning of the map, while the last one is right before its end. To complete the mission you will need to blow up the trucks / tanks, making the petrol barrels in their vicinity explode:

Path of the Immortals - The Enemy of My Enemy
Light 6 signaling braziers. To light them you will not have to use Molotov cocktails or flaming arrows, but you will have to blow up the Greek fire in their vicinity. They are located in elevated areas and some of them first need to remove blocks:

The Lost City - Fire and flames
Light 5 signal fires. Don't waste fire arrows or anything else, because to light them you must first be able to maneuver the catapult. To reach it, advance a little into the Lost City, until you reach the first great door. The first four fires can be lit using this catapult; once you have access to the last one, you can shoot and light the last fire too:

The Lost City - Vandalism
Destroy 8 headless statues. Except for the first statue, which is located under the first signal fire you come across, all the others are on top and around the ruins of the fortress:
The Lost City - For Whom the Bell Tolls
Drop 5 bells to the ground by cutting the rope that holds them. All the bells are located in the main area of the city, on high ground, like the towers. Here is the position of the five bells:
The Lost City - War of the Banners
Burn 8 banners of the Immortals. As with the posters of the Soviet base, here too you will be required to burn banners. Any fire gear will do. They are all hanging on the walls of the buildings in the first part of the city:
