In the Complete Edition released by Ubisoft, which marks the return of the game after years of absence, the characters that can be used on the streets of Toronto at the beginning are Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, Stephen Stills, Kim Pine, Wallace Wells and Knives Chau.

How to unlock Wallace and Knives
Wallace and Knives were separate DLCs when the game came out in 2013. Wallace is unlocked from the start, while for to get Knives just have a Ubisof accountyou access Ubisoft Connect directly from console or PC.
How to unlock Nega Scott
Deny Scott is the dark side of Scott and a boss in the game adaptation.
Adding Nega Scott to your files is relatively simple: you have to finish the game with the 4 original characters, then Scott, Ramona, Stephen and Kim. To complete their adventures, just select the character as Player 1: from that moment the game will load and follow the events of that character.
Nega Scott has similar moves to his "normal" counterpart plus other personal ones, plus he can call upon the negative version of Knives, Nega Knives, for help.
How to unlock Mr. Chau
Mr. Chau is the father of Knives, Scott's girlfriend before the latter falls in love with Ramona. In the comic he hunts Scott with an ancient samurai sword because he cannot accept that his daughter is with a white boy.
In Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is a secret boss which once beaten can replace Knives as a summon. Mr. Chau randomly appears on the map after finishing a stage: just go to the icon of Knives' father, challenge him and in case of victory it will be permanently unlocked for that character. In case of defeat, however, Mr. Chau will disappear and you will have to wait for him to appear again by completing other levels and checking the map.
Sometimes Mr. Chau will be replaced by his wife, who has the power to scare enemies away after saying vulgarity in Chinese, something to do with a lama.
