Bloober Team, the development studio already known for titles like Blair Witch, Observer: System Redux and Layers of Fear, releases an extended gameplay video of its new for the first time psy-horror video game The Medium. In over 14 minutes of clip played, the different powers, settings and possibilities on which gamers will be able to juggle are highlighted, for now only PC and Xbox Series X / S.
The clip revolves around Marianne, the medium protagonist of the game, struggling with the alternating and simultaneous exploration of the real world and that of the afterlife, thus highlighting unique gameplay with dual split-screen interaction.
The game experience will not only consist in an extremely fluid alternation between the two worlds, but also in the simultaneous coexistence in both: a third of the game will take place in the real world, a third in that of the spirits and the third remaining within both at the same time.
The new gameplay video also offers a taste of what, in The Medium, will be the encounters with the Maw, the main antagonist voiced by Troy Baker. The Maw is able to jump from one reality to another, just like Marianne, thus chasing her in both worlds. The peculiarities of the evil entity's behavior are different depending on the world in which it faces, and therefore all to be discovered.
The Medium represents the largest and most ambitious project ever carried out by Bloober Team and will launch for Xbox Series X | S and for PC via Steam and the Epic Store on January 28 2021. In this regard, the developers, who have also bet on the Series S version, have explained the reasons why the title will not debut on last gen consoles.
