    Strategy and useful advice

First of all, know that Manus is a relatively difficult boss, but with the right strategy it will not be a problem to deal with him. If you saved Sif in the previous area, you can summon him (the sign is inside the boss arena). That said, know a few things: it's not possible to parry its spells (but they can be undone with the Silver Pendant), it is not convenient to dodge all its attacks because it would cost you too much stamina, but learning to recognize them and position yourself accordingly can be a winning choice (equip a sufficiently powerful shield, if you don't feel confident). Each of his attacks is preceded by a precise animation or verse, so you can learn to predict his moves with relative ease. It has no elemental or "magical" weaknesses (and indeed, it is resistant to magic). Never attack him while he is performing his combos: his tail cannot be cut and, last but not least, we tell you never to try to parry his "furious" combo, because it would end very badly. Having said this, we are ready to face the fearsome "Father of the Abyss". It almost crossed our minds: equip an item that increases the speed of stamina regeneration (like theRing of Chlorancy Mask of the Son or the Shield Wavy crest) or eat a Green Flower just before entering the fog, because you will need it, trust me. Attack the boss with patience and never while performing his combos: try to keep up with him and learn his attack patterns, in order to predict his moves well. When he loses about 30% of his life, Manus will start casting spells, which can be dodged in this way: for the dark wave to the right or left (one roll at least), for the dark rain you just need to move away (minimum three rolls backwards), while for the dark circle stay very close to him (the spheres do not reach him).

If, on the other hand, you don't really want to face it, there is an unorthodox but effective and saving solution, if you want to go ahead without killing it: equip a bow with a long range and lots of arrows, then go towards the fog. To the right of it, stand by the wall and look down. You will see small red lights immersed in the darkness: they are the eyes of Manus. Cute, right? Shoot arrows in that direction until the boss dies and the game is done, with no penalties of any kind.

    Lore:

Awakened by the dark intentions of Kaathe, one of the two primordial snakes, Manus he is in effect the "father of the Abyss", the creature, that is, who gave life to the most fearful darkness there is. Even in the chapters following the first (especially in the third) the references to creatures give "Red eyes", with higher powers or more precisely characterized by greater aggression, have been frequent and Manus is the answer to everything. More than a speculation is the belief that in reality it is the same "Stealth Dwarf", one of the great lords who challenged the dragons at the dawn of time and then disappeared into thin air, mysteriously. To him, therefore, we owe the genesis of one of the most fearful plagues known within the universe of Lordran, but not only. Also Artorias it fell under the blows of the gigantic enemy, which became a mass of negative energy. His defeat, which actually happens in a kind of temporary distortion (found in the DLC which is, in fact, set in the past), can be seen as a game of greater forces in action. Moreover, in the "real" world this threat is contained. But what has ever prompted the creator of the human race to want to destroy and swallow all his creation? Madness? Fear? The question is complex and the answers would be too many. We can only play and discover: after all, the strength of every Soulslike is precisely this.
