The new one will be available from 20:00 on 28 December 2020 until 22:00 on 4 January 2021 Holiday Cup in the Pokémon GO Battle League Go, along with the Master League and the Premier Cup.
Only type Pokémon will be allowed in the Holiday Cup Normal, Grass, Electric, Ice, Flying and Ghost within 1500 PL.
Here are some of the best and most useful pokémon in this meta, some of which you may have already optimized and used in previous special cups.
Attacks indicated with an asterisk are Elite, where present we will indicate an ordinary attack as an alternative.
ALTARIA
- AV: Dragospiro
- AC: Airstrike - Dragopulsar
Altaria continues to remain one of the most resistant in cups under 1500 PL, although this time it will have to pay attention to the probable greater presence of Ice-type pokémon.
VIGOROTH
- AV: Counterattack
- AC: Corposcontro - Battiterra
If you have found a good Slakoth in the recent period in which he has shown himself around, you could count on a good generalist who with his flurry of Corposcontro is able to stand up to most of the most resistant contenders. Although he will have to watch out for Fairy-type pokémon and some other recurring opponents such as Skarmory, Marowak of Alola and Froslass.
OBSTAGOON
- AV: Counterattack
- AC: Nottesferza - Incrocolpo
Capable of dealing large amounts of damage very quickly and resisting most types of attacks, the only thing he needs to watch out for are pokémon with Fighting attacks to which he has double weakness. Fairy-type and beetle-type attacks are rarer, but still dangerous.
FROSLASS
- AV: Polneve
- AC: Slavina - Shadow Ball
One of the most useful Ice-type pokémon, capable of shredding Altaria and getting the better of Vigoroth and Stunfisk. Also, even if he is destined to succumb to Marowak of Alola, he can still force him to use his shields thanks to the fearsome Shadow Ball.
ALOLA GRAVELER
- AV: Invert volt
- AC: Cadutamassi - Pietrataglio
Perfect for dealing with Flying-type Pokemon like Altaria, Skarmory and Charizard, as well as Ice-type Pokemon. Remember to keep it away from opponents with Ground and Fight attacks.
MAROWAK OF ALOLA
- AV: Turbofuoco
- AC: Ossoclava - Oxotetro * / Shadow Ball
Excellent choice against all Ice-type pokémon and to get the better of Skarmory and Magnezone, as well as capable of dealing heavy neutral damage with its Ghost attacks. Bone Meter is obviously preferable for power and speed, but if you don't have this Elite move you can fold Shadow Ball, slower but still deadly.
SKARMORY
- AV: Heterelama
- AC: Aeroattacco - Baldeali
The Flying-Steel combination makes it one of the most resistant pokémon in this PL range, taking as neutral damage most of the opponents' attacks, except for those of Fire and Electric.
MAGNEZONE
- AV: Spark
- AC: Sprizzilampo - Cristalcolpo
This is a more advisable pokémon for the higher Leagues, but it can be a good substitute for Graveler if you don't have one with the right stats, mainly for its ability to face the Flying and Ice types; Sprizzilampo is also always a devastating attack for anyone who stands in front of it without a shield.
lapras
- AV: Ice Shard * / Frost Breath
- AC: Surf - Head
Despite the reduced choice of skills, Lapras is a decidedly resistant pokémon and a good counter for frequent opponents in this cup such as Altaria, Froslass, Marowak of Alola. It must be played carefully, however, not to leave it to contend with Vigoroth, Obstagoon or Electro attacks.
STUNFISK
- AV: Mud Shot / Thunder Shock
- AC: Discharge - Pantanobomba
If you are lucky enough to have a Stunfisk with the right statistics, it can prove to be one of the most useful pokémon for this cup thanks to the combination of Earth and Electro attacks that make it able to overcome many recurring opponents. The choice of the fast attack in this case does not change much in terms of energy: Thunder Shock is useful against some pokémon, but perhaps Mud Strike covers slightly more, including a fight with another Stunfisk in which the opponent has chosen Thunder Shock.
DIGGERSBY
- AV: Mud Shot
- AC: Fuocopugno - Earthquake
Bunnelby is one of the most common pokémon since the introduction of the new generation in Pokémon Go, so if you find one with statistics suitable for PvP do not underestimate it, and of course accumulate enough candy to power it up and unlock the second loaded move. Diggersby has good stamina and useful attacks, although it is best to keep him in the rear of the group to avoid having him happen against opponents with super effective attacks (Fight, Ice, Grass and Water).
