Arrived at Tower of Heide's Flame, perhaps the most beautiful map of Dark Souls II, know that you will have two bosses to face: the Old Dragon Slayerie the Knight of the Dragons. After getting the better of bosses like the Persecutor, these two enemies should be of little concern. In any case, here are some small tricks to bring home the victory with relative ease.
Strategy and useful advice
The Old Dragon Slayer is not a particularly complex emic to defeat and, with a few tricks, you will bring home victory. Remember to always stay close to him and try to go around him, counterclockwise, in order to hit him from behind. Always attack when the boss has finished a series of attacks and try to dodge rather than parry his blows. If you are caster characters, remember to attack anyway after he has finished a series of hits and you will win with relative ease.
Attacks
- Lunge: The boss lunges with his spear, which you can easily parry
- Jump Attack: The Old Dragon Slayer will move backwards and perform a jump attack, which you should dodge
- Spear combo: the boss, using his weapon, will perform a combo when you are close to him; this attack is also easily parable and, once finished, will give you the opportunity to attack the boss safely
- Lightning Sprint: When you are far away, the Old Dragon Slayer will shoot with his spear in his hands and reach you, trying to damage you with a powerful lunge (very easy to dodge by rolling sideways)
- Lightning Bolt II: When you are close to him, the boss will move backwards to damage you with a lunge
- Dark Bullet: Occasionally, when you stay away from him, the Old Dragon Slayer will charge a dark bolt, very damaging but relatively easy to dodge
- Crash: The boss will jump and land dealing damage to the area (avoid this by simply walking away)
- Dark Crash: attack similar to the previous one, in which the boss is enveloped in a dark aura before executing it, generating a powerful shock wave, capable of inflicting very large damage on you (again, move away to avoid it)
Drop
- Soul of the Old Dragon Slayer
- 22000 anime
- Lion ring
Lore
Let's face it: all fans of the saga, those who have stripped the first chapter in particular, will have had a half heart attack once they have passed the fog of the boss in question. Finding ourselves in front of the Dragon Slayer immediately brought the mind to the great Ornstein, one of the most fascinating and charismatic enemies of the first Dark Souls. After so many years it is still not clear whether or not it is the same boss, since the name "Old" would suggest that it is something already seen and, therefore, perhaps it is the leader of the knights of Lord Gwyn . After playing Dark Souls III too, however, the opinion changes radically. Also in the third and final chapter there is a very similar boss, which therefore weakens the idea that it is the same person in favor of the one for which both the armor and the charge were handed down from figure to figure. Net of all considerations, however, it remains one of the most fascinating creatures of the game, as well as of the entire saga.
