The last PlayStation 5 Showcase was inaugurated with the trailer "Awakening”Of Final Fantasy XVI, a surprise announcement that immediately became one of the highlights of the presentation.
The trailer showed different elements of the game, but to know more about the chapter in development at Creative Business Unit III headed by Naoki Yoshida and Hiroshi Takai we will have to wait until 2021.
Today, however, we learn that in a Square Enix email sent to its users, the indication of the PEGI 18 that would be assigned to the game. At least for now.
The classification is indeed provisional, and it is possible that Square Enix applied it in the newsletter to protect itself from the possibility that a too young audience would be disturbed by the presented trailer, which we remember shows several scenes with blood and killings, even if not obvious.
However, if the game requires confirmation of this classification, Final Fantasy XVI would be the first chapter of the saga indicated to an adult audience. Although this would be risky in terms of targets and sales for Square Enix, it gives us hope for the maturity of its history.
