1. How to add music to Instagram stories with music stickers

The easiest way to add music to your Instagram Story is to use the special Music sticker, available in the latest versions of the official Instagram app on iOS and Android devices.

Open the Instagram app and tap the icon of camera in the upper left corner to create a new story.
Tap the icon circular to take a photo or record a video as usual.

3. How to add music to an Instagram post in the old style

This third method of adding music to Instagram Stories is like when you used to add songs to videos before the Music Sticker feature was launched. This can also be used when shooting regular post videos.

As this method adds music unofficially, Instagram will automatically scan it for any copyright infringement. If detected, Instagram will simply remove all sound from the entire video. Your account will not be closed and there are no legal consequences.

While it's an old method, it's still effective and can be used to embed music that isn't officially available in the Instagram app. This also removes the time limit for each song.

Open your favorite music app on your device and start playing a song. For this example, we will use Spotify.
Minimize the app with the song still in the background and open Instagram.
Tap the your avatar or the small icon of the camera in the upper left corner to start a new Instagram story.
Long press the record button to record a video. The song you are playing and all other audio will be recorded along with the video.
Keep editing your story as you usually would, adding filters, text, and gifs.
When ready, tap Le your stories to publish it.

While Instagram allows you to crop a video and add filters during the upload process to your main Instagram feed, it doesn't offer any way to add music to it. This means that you will need to add music to your video using another app, save it, then upload this newly edited video to Instagram.

If you're using the third method, or want to add music to an Instagram post, you'll need to find a track to use on your own.

Technically, you can use any song from Spotify, iTunes, or any other music service, but your video may be flagged for copyright infringement.
