The first ever is definitely theinclusion of online multiplayer. In the first chapter the only way to play with a friend was locally, many fans raised numerous protests about it and for this reason in Overcooked! 2, online was introduced on all available modes: Story Mode, Arcade and Versus. In each of them you can choose the system in which you want to play. In the story, you can choose whether to play it independently in single or with the help of a friend, who however will not get any kind of progress, such as theobtaining new chefs unlockable only via story mode; in this case, only the host of the game will earn them. In Arcade and Versus, you can choose up to 3 modes: local, online multiplayer and private multiplayer. Overcooked! 2 therefore offers the possibility to play not only with a friend but also with other people passionate about the title.
Another novelty is theintroduction of an interactive map within the History. To reach some levels you will need to press buttons on the map, which will raise a small climb that will allow you to access the next challenges. In addition, the developers have included gods hidden levels that are only unlockable under certain conditions, it will be up to you to find out how!
Ghost Town certainly didn't want to stop here! To make cooperation the focus of Overcooked! 2, the developers have introduced dynamic and interactive levels, which are not limited to the mere creation of a recipe. Our cooks will face increasingly difficult challenges using teleporters, remote controlled platforms, multiple cooking methods, sliding belts and ever-changing levels. How can you deal with all this? Easy, he gives up ... but no! The developers have also thought about the cooks; in order to increase the chances of victory and expand the synergy, the protagonists have been equipped with other skills: it is You can toss the raw ingredients to your liking, whether it is towards your partner, or directly in the pans, or perhaps inside a ravine. However, know that the situation is not irrecoverable, so much so that the cooks were given the opportunity to snap forward in any direction, in order to deliver dishes faster or to retrieve something that is burning. Facing increasingly difficult challenges is no longer so scary!
In Overcooked! 2 it is possible to play with both the keyboard and a joypad, but given the introduction of new skills, it is advisable to always use the pad, which for this game is equally comfortable and versatile. Ghost Town has also introduced new chefs, offering the possibility to choose between cute animals or human cooks. These chefs will have to complete numerous recipes: sashimi, sushi, steam cooking (meat, vegetable or fish ravioli), burrito, hamburger, pizza, pancakes, pie, pasta, fried chicken and fries.
The game is not without its flaws. Some translations leave nothing to be desired: for example, at the end of each level, a summary of what the cooks have achieved is given and the respective score next to each item. The items are "dishes served", "tips" and "dishes not served". After endless hours spent wondering why the advice gave points, I came to the right conclusion which in English is evidently "tips", a word that is used for both "tips" and "advice"; small subtleties, which however become concrete in a culinary video game.
Secondly, Story Mode is definitely much easier than the first chapter. Although the challenges are more fun and difficult, achieving the maximum result of 3 stars is not complicated; in most cases the score can even be more than double the required score. The game is also short-lived; The story can be completed with the maximum score at each level in about 4 hours, therefore the title develops mostly in the Arcades and in the competitions between friends.
Overcooked! 2 is the breath of fresh air you expect to receive during the scorching heat of August. Fun, lively and never banal; the levels change both in the setting and in the challenges, cooperation is not only an integral but also a fundamental part of the game. Graphic style is essential; with a genuine and spontaneous appearance and vivid and bright colors, the game reminds us of many of the modern animated series from which it drew inspiration, thus creating a title that is pleasant not only to play but also to see. It is therefore a very valid product, the purchase of which is recommended for all those looking to have fun in company or who simply want an easy, light and stimulating first videogame approach.
