The arrival of the next-gen is getting closer and closer, about a month away. The gap with the current generation will not be abysmal but in any case sensitive and, thanks to this, backwards compatibility, a topic that has been dealt with at length in previous periods, is also becoming increasingly important. This feature was totally ignored by Sony and Microsoft with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One but now the music is different. Sony has shed some light on the system backward compatibility between PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, including saves.
As often happens between generations, cross-gen titles go crazy and many publishers have already discussed the upgrades available between platforms. However, not everyone was very clear about the bailouts. Unlike Microsoft, which presented Smart Delivery, it seems Sony has left developers free to choose what to do. The position taken by the Japanese company was made known via the PlayStation blog.
Please note that the ability to transfer bailouts between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 of the same title is a decision that depends on the developer and will vary from title to title throughout the cross-gen phase.
This explains why some titles that will see the light on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 they will not have compatible saves, such as Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Maneater, as opposed to others like Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
