Some rumors indicate that a new team is at work at Sony studios in San Diego. This new team appears to be working on existing PlayStation franchises.
This is reflected in the LinkedIn profile of former lead developer Michael Mumbauer, in which he admits that he helped build a brand new team to work on triple A action-adventure titles.. This team appears to be separate from the existing teams in San Diego. In the "Featured" section on his profile, Mumbauer links to a series of videos including Youtuber RobinGaming's "Sony Is Secretly Building A New PlayStation Studio ... To Make Uncharted 5 ?!" This section is edited by the LinkedIn account holder, but they may also be teased for fans.
Mumbauer headed Sony studios in San Diego from 2007 to 2020, also holding the position of senior director at PlayStation Worldwide Studios. Since he left the company in November last year, however, it is not known where he has moved.
The last chapter of the Uncharted saga was The Lost Legacy in 2017. It is not yet clear how much Naughty Dog will be involved in the creation of the title. The studio diverted all its efforts to complete last year's The Last of Us Part II.
