Review for Go Vacation. Game for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Wii, the video game was released on 11/10/2011 The version for Nintendo Switch came out on 27/07/2018
Holidays have always been the object of desire of millions of people locked up in the grueling daily routine. Go Vacation was born in 2011 for Nintendo Wii with the aim of allowing anyone an escape from everyday reality by enjoying, albeit virtually, the activities offered by the resorts.
Years later, the speech does not change and with the advent of Nintendo Switch, which in fact makes every video game released on this console portable, porting or not, the concept of vacation doubles allowing the player to take them on vacation Go Vacation.
The title doesn't have a big restyle, but thanks to a good porting job, an upscale of the meager graphics and an implementation of proposed activities, Nintendo refreshes an evergreen title aimed mostly at the very young video game lovers. In fact, Go Vacation does not present, for its entire duration, any kind of difficulty or real challenge: in terms of the subject dealt with, in fact, an excessive commitment is not proposed to the player as a sort of videogame relaxation in the game, which really allows you to feel on vacation.
Although this may discourage many of today's gamers, it should be remembered that the title is aimed at a target of very young people, who, unlike most adults, will find extreme satisfaction in carrying out the over fifty activities offered in the various resorts.
Having landed on the island of Kawawii after a short character setting setting, which also allows the use of the Mii present in the console, we will find ourselves catapulted into the most complete and varied holiday resort ever seen. The island hosts four resorts characterized by different settings, a trick to allow you to vary the activities to be carried out as much as possible: we will find disciplines ranging from track races aboard cars and motorcycles in the city resort, skating and skiing in the alpine one, to range from jet skis and swimming in the sea resort and snowball battles in the mountain resort .
Of course, these are just examples of the various activities present, not to mention the interludes that each city offers.
In fact, real activities are not everything in Go Vacation: we will be able to roam free for each resort using the means available, eat in the kiosks scattered here and there, look for the treasures scattered a little everywhere and take pictures of the fauna and flora local. Exactly as if we were on vacation, it is therefore not necessary to always be engaged in a sporting activity: we can also just wander aimlessly discovering strange and new landscapes or animals always ready to interrupt our idleness to devote ourselves to our favorite activities.
To unlock all the activities it is necessary to obtain the stickers available for each resort: to do this, just go to the information desk where we will be immediately indicated the next activity to be carried out (without too much effort) to get the next sticker. Every four stickers will unlock either a new game or customization mode, or a new resort. In four and four we will have unlocked all the resorts and all the activities and we will be able to freely dedicate ourselves to wandering aimlessly.
The control system is unfortunately a bit patchy: being Go Vacation born for motion control, playing with the Joy-Con attached to the console becomes an operation that sometimes presents some difficulties, it is clear nothing insurmountable given the super simplified use of the protagonist in all disciplines, but in any case a better job could be done in our opinion. The interaction with the other players, on the other hand, has been excellently transposed. It therefore becomes satisfying to embark on evolutions with roller skates or skis rather than exploring the depths of the island, when the challenge factor with the other players comes into play.
It is possible to split the Joy-Con to have up to four players on a separate or shared screen, and it is even possible to use multiple consoles together, always as long as each has a copy of the game: this allows you to take full advantage of the portability of Switch by offering a complete and fulfilling experience. The keys to be used are reduced to a minimum: for each activity you will need only two, which become four when the challenges evolve and also require scoring tricks to be overcome.
Honorable mention for the customization of the various players: with the progress of the activities we will get clothes and accessories suitable for every occasion and even pets that will faithfully follow us during our exploration, unfortunately limited only to this. It will also be possible to have a fully customizable real house to accentuate the customization aspect and the simulation component of the title.
Graphics, sound and uploads do not scream a miracle but do not penalize the experience, settling on the same level of the general difficulty and therefore calibrated for a young audience or for those who do not feel the need for a real challenge in Go Vacation. However, you must not think that the title is less satisfying than many others: the final experience is in fact pleasant and manages to really convey to the player the idea of being on vacation in a place where anxiety, haste and competition do not exist.
Go Vacation is in fact the perfect porting of a title suitable for those leaving for the holidays, without anxiety or pressure of any kind and extremely suitable for a young audience. It expresses its best in multiplayer, perhaps with friends or children, and is suitable for very quick gaming sessions. Pleasant and unpretentious, it could have been better implemented, but it is still nice and usable.
