How to deactivate your account on WhatsApp in case of theft.
If your phone has been stolen, perhaps the most viable option to disable WhatsApp is through your carrier, i.e. blocking the SIM card. If you are unable to do this for some reason, you can disable your account directly from WhatsApp.
Also, blocking the SIM card will not stop using WhatsApp on Wi-Fi, so it is an incomplete solution.
To deactivate your WhatsApp account, you need to send an email to WhatsApp. Your account will be deactivated immediately after sending the email. You will be able to reactivate your account via SMS or a phone call, as you normally would, as a new activation. If you do not reactivate your account within 30 days, it will be permanently deleted.
To deactivate your WhatsApp account, follow these steps:
- Use an email client (Yahoo, Gmail, Outlook or any other) to send a message to the following address: [email protected] sapp.com;
- The subject line of the email should be: "Lost / Stolen: Deactivate my account";
- In the body of the email, put: "Lost / Stolen: please deactivate my account (your full international phone number reported).
Once you have typed the email correctly, send it and wait, your account will be deactivated immediately. It is recommended not to send multiple emails with the same request. If necessary, the application support team will contact you. Remember, you have 30 days to reactivate your account before it is permanently deleted.
