Among the many simulatives, a genre that is increasingly gaining ground in the videogame industry, those relating to agricultural work are perhaps among the best known. Farming Simulator, in this sense, is by far the best interpreter of this genre. So Tedesco, however, he tried to break this monopoly and enter the market with Real Farm, a new type of agricultural simulator, which is inspired by the work of Giants Software.

Real Farm - Review

Real Farm is a very simple video game, with rather basic mechanics, but which still manages to best express what are the jobs on a farm. Plowing the land, cultivating, sowing and reaping the crops are just some of the jobs we will find ourselves doing in the fields, armed with our equipment. There are essentially two modes in the title of So Tedesco, career and free play, which differ in the fact that the career is nothing more than a free game with objectives to be unlocked.

You will start as a simple helper to Matt Davis, the eldest farmer, who will teach you the basic tasks of a farmer. From the first few bars, you immediately understand the attention to detail that So Tedesco has put into their work. The working times are very long, reflecting in detail the fatigue of the fields, perhaps in the first moments of gameplay this could be boring but it is other yes true that the development studio has made the best of what is the work of a factor. In the long tutorial, which as mentioned explains the basics, we will also begin to understand how to use the various machinery of the trade, from the tractor to the combine harvester, each of these with different characteristics and for specific jobs. Each machine can be purchased or leased, this very useful in the early stages of the game when we do not have enough money available to own each tool, in the village shop. The management menu of each machine is meticulously rendered and for each object there are different variants, from the cheapest to the most expensive, unattainable in the early stages of the game when you will be little more than a helper.

The climb to success starts right from the initial farm. Each completed job will earn you money to buy the products you need. The market system will also allow products to be sold. Both the machinery and the harvest have a variable price that depends on the market demands, the player's task will be to sell their products when the market will have more demand, selling products in a saturated market will not give you great economic benefits. By doing jobs, you will earn money until you can buy a farm yourself and hire employees. A climb from a simple helper to the most important factor in the village.

Even on a visual level Real Farm still manages to impress with the quality of the 4K textures, at least in the PC version, despite the landscape itself being quite flat. The changing of day and night and the weather conditions mark the work in the fields, to which will be added a further degree of challenge due to the management of livestock, pigs, cows, sheep and chickens, which will need crops that are always available to be able to offer us. a constant income. The sound is also very relaxing, although there are no countryside sounds such as crickets but rather the rustle of the wind, So Tedesco has created a captivating soundtrack that discreetly accompanies the farmer's work. If we really want to find flaws in Real Farm, we can find them in some sentences, not always impeccable in the Spanish translation.

Real Farm - Review

Real Farm is still an interesting video game that, albeit with basic gameplay mechanics, manages to best perform its task as an agricultural simulator. Certainly we are not in front of the successor of Farming Simulator, still unattainable, but we can say that So Tedesco has done a good job in the development of this new title that can give you moments of relaxation between one harvest and another at the command of your farm.
