After an intriguing start, MachineGames releases the second DLC of the “The Freedom Chronicles” campaign. The protagonist this time is Jessica Valiant, a special agent specializing in the silent elimination of enemies. She is the war heroine Silent Death, once a strong and resolute woman but now disgraced after the tragic death of her husband at the hands of the ruthless Nazis. Everything changes when she receives a letter from the Resistance, a help letter revealing the identity of the men who caused her husband's death. Jessica thus has the opportunity to take revenge on those who have ruined her life forever and therefore decides to take up her equipment one last time to bring justice to a world now on the brink.

The narrative premises for this second DLC are truly electrifying: a story of intrigue, betrayal and revenge ... What could go wrong in Wolfenstein II: The Diaries of Agent Silent Death?

Unfortunately, more than anything: if in Wolfenstein II: The Adventures of Gunslinger Joe we had appreciated not only the themes dealt with, but also the in-depth study of the character and the plot linked to it, in this case the feeling is instead of being in front of a second packet a bit weaker. As we have said, the potential was all there but the short duration of the chapters, combined with the little bite of characters and plot, soon make football player Joe regret.

What works a little better is the gameplay. Being The Diaries of Agent Silent Death a variation of what we have already seen in The New Colossus, we can safely say that the proposed action meatloaf is absolutely enjoyable. Of course, Jessica gives up some of the skills of the good Blazko, but gains in agility and silence, essential elements for a cold-blooded killer as she is. The most devoted approach to stealth can be appreciated throughout the three short chapters, and demonstrates how MachineGames is able to offer variety while keeping the "skeleton" intact. In all this, however, a more in-depth study of the level design would have been necessary, which, due to a certain simplicity and repetitiveness, does little to enhance the unique abilities of Silent Death one hundred percent.

Wolfenstein II: The Diaries of Agent Silent Death could have been a really interesting DLC, with a bit of Tarantinian tints, a sort of Kill Bill with the Nazis. MachineGames has instead taken a half misstep: after the good The Adventures of Gunslinger Joe we expected much more, so we hope that the third and last package is the perfect closure of a title that is still one of the best shooters of this generation.

Verdict: Recommended only for true enthusiasts
