A Total War Saga: TROY, developed as an exclusive PC by The Creative Assembly, allows, like every game in the series, to choose immediately the faction to which to belong. This is a choice that influences the events of the game and therefore should not be taken lightly.
So let's see which are all the playable factions in A Total War Saga: TROY and which one to choose according to your needs.
In the game, the developers have included the following playable factions:
- Ithaca, attributable to Odysseus;
- Sparta, headed by Menelaus;
- Licia, the faction of Sarpedonte;
- Hector of Troy;
- Paris of Troy;
- Mycenae, obviously headed by Agamemnon;
- Dardania, the faction to which Aeneas belongs;
- Ftia, the Achilles faction.
Choosing between one of these camps could be complicated, as each of them has specific strengths and weaknesses. The wisest choice is the one that follows your own style of play, thus avoiding finding yourself in too much difficulty during the experience. Fortunately, the title allows you to try all the factions, so you can also make some considerations independently. In some cases the differences, among other things, are evident and immediately catch the eye if the Homeric texts are known even only marginally. By choosing Ithaca, and therefore Odysseus, we will find ourselves adopting a shrewd and indirect approach, being able to make use of spies or decimate enemy lines before battles. On the other hand, the attitudes of Achilles ed hector: while the first will be useful if you want to maintain a direct and aggressive approach, the second is perfect for those who prefer a defensive approach based on the high number of infantry, despite having to deal with inevitable slowness.
If you are looking for the best faction to start playing, instead, you can consider that of Sarpedonte. It, among all the playable factions of A Total War Saga: TROY, is the most suitable for those approaching the genre for the first time. While other sides, such as that of Odysseus, certainly require a little more attention, by choosing Licia you will be able to take the first steps in a fairly quiet area and you will have all the time to learn to understand the game mechanics. An alternative, in case you don't want to fight alongside the Trojans, could be Sparta, the Menelaus faction, which has quite agile units.
Recall that, in September, The Creative Assembly will add the factions of the Amazons to A Total War Saga: TROY of Hippolyta and Penthesilea through the publication of the DLC "Amazons".
