Being able to carry as many items as possible in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is definitely a big plus. An inventory and capacious pockets will allow you to take your daily walk on the island collecting resources to sell without making too many trips. This is also essential when flying to another island: by spending your savings you can visit a new area and, with a spacious inventory in tow, you can collect all the items you want. Keep in mind that all the things you do not collect will be lost when you return to your island and there will be no possibility of returning to recover them, so always try to collect as many resources as possible.
Obviously at the beginning of Animal Crossing: New Horizons it will be quite frustrating to have such a limited inventory. Initially, you can only take 20 different items with you and we can consider it a luxury, since in the previous Animal Crossing the initial inventory was 15 slots and 16 in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. The bells are excluded, but cash will start taking up space in your inventory when you hit 100,000: in a nutshell from your overflowing wallet they will start pouring into your inventory. You are warned!
In any case, don't despair, the good news is that in Animal Crossing: New Horizons you will be able to expand your inventory to double it. You will need a little patience and a few Nook Miles!
One of the new features in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the ATM style machine that Tom Nook has placed inside theResidential Services Building. This building is initially a simple tent in the center of the city and, as the island develops, it will transform into a real building with a secretary. The ATM terminal can be used for various things, including shopping, amiibo and bank balance management and various loans. It can also be used for exchange Nook Miles thus unlocking various bonuses.
Miles of Nook are basically objectives in-game and in Animal Crossing: New Horizons any activity allows you to earn more Miles, so go gardening, catch insects, and shop. It's like an endless treadmill!
Nook Miles can be spent at the terminal to buy many things, such as tickets to temporarily fly to other islands, new recipes, extra items and new bonuses. At some point you will also be able to directly exchange Nook Miles for bells and this is a great way to earn more money pretty fast. Among the bonuses that you can unlock are the Pocket Organization Guides, or real pocket guides to organize your inventory, which add 10 slots inside your pockets.
However, these pocket guides are not always available at the terminal. For example at the beginning of Animal Crossing: New Horizons they will not be present, but they will appear as you progress and your island expands. After you turn the Residential Services tent into a building, a subsequent unlockable bonus will appear to expand your inventoryBoth of these upgrades will cost you about a thousand Nook Miles, but at this point in the game you should have about 10 thousand if not more, so you should be able to unlock them without any problems.
