Christian Dailey, director of the Anthem development team, said an update to mech combat, considered one of the most important aspects of the game.
The player now has a screen in which can change equipment at will, with artifacts and Mod slots that allow you to upgrade equipment slots. Dailey also gave an example of how these artifacts work:
“Artifacts are super powerful pieces of technology that set your Javelin and your Freelancer apart. Each type of javelin would have a distinct artifact that satisfies its classy fantasy. For example, your Ranger rocket would be upgraded to the Skyfell Launcher Artifact, a pair of rear-mounted pods that transform into powerful rocket launchers. "
As players use their mech, they will earn points, allowing them to unlock new passive abilities and stats. For example, the Ranger mech can specialize in Captain, Soldier, or Longbow, then upgrade the mech further by leveling up.
There is also an element of choice: these specializations come with skill trees, so players must choose which ones are best for them and the type of game they have in mind.
We don't know much about Anthem's next update yet, but it all looks like an interesting system that brings Anthem into line with Shooter like Destiny 2.
