How many copies has Cyberpunk 2077 sold despite everything? The press release states, in fact, that “the number represents physical and digital sales […] subtracted the refund requests received by the company through the Help Me Refund campaign“. This refers to the company's invitation to write to a specific email address until December 21 to get a refund at CD Projekt's expense, in case the gaming experience was not bearable or had gone badly by Sony, Microsoft and other platforms. . The mailbox is now no longer active.
13 million copies make Cyberpunk 2077 the video game with the best launch of 2020. Among the other titles (which are exclusive, therefore linked to a platform) we find Animal Crossing: New Horizons (11 million copies in as many days), The Last of Us: Part II and Ghost of Tsushima but, respectively, 4 and 5 million copies in 10 days.
This reassuring figure for investors comes at the dawn of possible lawsuits against CD Projekt Red for misrepresentation, which would have damaged their wallet as well as the players. It's CD Projekt's way of saying that, despite the controversy, the game has met their expectations. From this point of view, however, the players are split in half - the company is working hard on patches to fix everything hoping to put the story behind them.
