Do you know the English expression “When it rains, it pours“? It fits perfectly to describe the situation in which CD Projekt RED has found itself for ten days now. The culprit is of course Cyberpunk 2077 and its failure to optimize, to put it mildly, on the older generation of consoles, which spawned a chain of complaints and refunds.
Another tile falls on the players' heads and hits one of the most precious files ever: the save, which due to a new bug it is corrupt when it reaches a certain size. From numerous sources, in fact, it appears that save files of 8 MB or more are irreparably damaged, not allowing to continue the adventure in Night City.
The problem was reported on Reddit and officially on GOG.com (site owned by CD Projekt). Translated into Spanish, we read that there is no solution:
Unfortunately the save is damaged and cannot be recovered.
Please use an old save file to continue playing and try not to have too many crafting items or materials.
If you used the glitch that duplicates items, please load a save where it was not used.
The file limit may have increased in a future patch, but the corrupt save will remain so.
The main cause of this disastrous bug is therefore crafting: More items in inventory cause the save file to grow in size. Touching 6 MB seems to slow down the game, while at 8 MB the save is not loaded and the player receives the following message: "The save is damaged and cannot be loaded".
The problem should only affect the PC user, but CD Projekt Red warned us to take it easy on objects and not to use the glitch that duplicates them. For any developments there is a thread on the official forums of the Warsaw company, in which a representative of the technical assistance has suggested some steps to try.
On Cyberpunk 2077 they are talking about cooked and raw: at the moment, patch 1.05 has been made available in the hope of improving the game on all platforms and PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in particular. Meanwhile Sony, Microsoft and CD Projekt Red itself are offering refunds: here is an update of the situation directly from the experience of one of our editors.
