Born from the brilliant mind of Hideo Kojima, Death Stranding by Kojima Productions is definitely unlike any other title you've ever tried. Action colors blended with stealth sessions they will induce you to approach the game in a whole new way. Below we leave you some useful tips to become the most efficient delivery man of all in a post-apocalyptic world!
Take your time or hurry, the choice is yours. Do not be late!
In Death Stranding you will have to make deliveries as efficiently as possible. At the end of each mission you will be ranked according to the time spent on, path taken and degree of damage to the load that you have transported. Remember that if you aim for the best score, efficiency is much more important than haste. Keep in mind that the time allowed for deliveries is always well balanced: you will have a lot of them available, even during timed missions. In short, you can take a pleasant walk until you reach the delivery place.
As in everything (even in real life!) Preparation before embarking on a mission in Death Stranding is the key to success. Always remember to bring with you at least 3 ladders, a spare pair of boots and 4 climbing anchors. During the missions you may happen to be surprised by the rain, which will damage the load you are carrying. To "buffer" the situation, make sure you always have some with you repair spray, which will allow you to repair the goods you are transporting before delivering them. This does not mean that you will have to load up like mules, on the contrary! It is always better to travel light on average, the important thing is to have everything you need with you to carry out a perfect delivery.
To give a concrete example, proceeding in the history of Death Stranding you will get various types of guns, but you will not necessarily have to carry them all with you. After all, you can only use them one at a time! In any case, if you want a well-stocked paraphernalia always available, you will have the possibility to use a remote courier or some extra PCCs (Portable Construction Case, i.e. a portable box for building objects). The latter are particularly functional (and also imaginative) suitcases that can be if necessary transformed into bridges and other useful pieces of equipment.
Another great idea not to be underestimated in Death Stranding is consult the map and draw a route to follow before departure. As you progress through the story, you will then have access to weather stations, which will allow you to predict temporal rains and consequently avoid them together with the enemy CAs (Stranded Creatures) that are generated within these weather patterns. Forecasting rain is a great advantage as it will not only damage the load but will force you to proceed much slower than normal.
To avoid? It is definitely the key!
Whether it's the stranded creatures or the donkeys trying to steal your cargo, the best thing to do in Death Stranding is avoid them always and in any case: a direct confrontation is never a good idea. Sure, getting through and out of an AC infested area unscathed will take a long time, but keep in mind that if you get caught and dragged into a fight it will take twice as long, if not triple. Furthermore, the risk of damaging the load is very high, especially if it is fragile goods.
The same thing goes for the donkeys, who will do everything (but really everything) to steal the load you are carrying: as soon as they see you they will attack you to make it fall. If you are not carrying too bulky goods you can also hide in the tall grass, but this tactic doesn't always work.
A good foresight in Death Stranding is that of Use the bait loads to shift the enemy's attention away from you to this merchandise specially created for intent. To use them, enter the pause menu and equip the bait load, then start swinging it to launch it. To achieve a master cast, release the load in mid swing and you will see that it will fall far away from you. At this point the enemies will no longer care about Sam, but they will launch without hesitation on the bait load giving you time to escape. Always make sure not to use the goods you are delivering!
During the game you will happen several times to be surrounded by donkeys and not be able to escape until you have faced them. In this case it is useful to use the PCC for create a mailbox and store the goods inside it until you have defeated the enemy. If you are good enough you will also be able to steal one of their vehicles, which will greatly facilitate the rest of the trip.
Ah, lucky the ziplines!
No doubt: the ziplines are among the best equipment in Death Stranding. This special accessory will be unlockable once you reach level two of the PCC and essentially will allow you to create a sort of "railway system" for your own use. The ziplines they connect over long distances and during your travels it is advisable to place them frequently, so as to facilitate and speed up subsequent trips. In Death Stranding it will also be possible to indirectly collaborate with other players and their ziplines: doing so will greatly increase their range of action.
Aside from the ziplines, remember that it's always worth it donating ceramics, metals and other materials for road networks. Such roads require a great deal of collaboration from many players, but once installed they will prove to be valuable allies, as they will ensure a fast and safe passage for all types of vehicles. Using the latter over the road networks the batteries will not wear out and you can enjoy some healthy speed without the risk of tipping over. If you want to be selfless and generous couriers towards others, remember to place some charging stations on the road networks, thanks to which other players will be able to recharge their vehicles. Who knows, maybe someone will repay the favor!
Automatic loading organization is always a good idea
Within Death Stranding there is a whole system of organization of the load carried by Sam which is based on the center of gravity of the character. However, despite this being very interesting, our advice is to set the load organization to "automatic" before leaving for a delivery. Once you have “loaded” Sam always remember to click on this option to optimize the load capacity and make the crossing easier to the delivery point.
Always remember not to overdo the "tower loads" on Sam's back: there are also low ceilings and passages. If you don't pay the right attention what will happen next you can surely imagine it! Sam's balance is also very important when traveling and by holding L2 and R2 you will act on the luggage straps to ensure greater stability.
In Death Stranding "more is less"
When you go camping, we bet your parents have always told you to pack only what you really need. Here, in Death Stranding forget this maxim and rely on Sam, the absolute expert in transporting loads. Tackling only one mission at a time is inconvenient and will force you to go a long way unnecessarily; our advice is to launch at least 2 missions at the same time, giving priority to the one with the nearest delivery point. Remember to use the map to plot a route between the two quests: by doing so you will progress much faster and save a lot of time.
When you leave the loads in the terminals it is a good thing accept another mission near the place of arrival. Later by unlocking the robots you can fill them and use them for a secondary mission; this will allow you to make progress indirectly while you are busy on another mission.
Does the urge for delivery run powerfully in you? Well, with this guide you will undoubtedly become the best couriers in the post-apocalyptic world!
