Deathloop will not only be made of perfect time loops, but rather a Penbar's triangle capable of hindering our perfect plans with sudden sensations of déjà vu, from what transpires from an interview with the game director Dinga Babaka.
In February's interview with PlayStation Official Magazine, Babaka expanded on Deathloop's time loop mechanics:
Time loops are a "dirty" process. There is a limit to them, so some players, perhaps the most experienced, will very quickly understand all the calculations behind them. However, they remain relatively rare and most targets have a high degree of probability.
Babaka gives an example in speaking of Visionary, one of the targets to be killed to break the loop.
The Visionary may try to get the weapon out the first time you approach it, which will obviously cause its death at your hands. In the next loop he may have a déjà vu about it and avoid the behavior that made him die the first time, forcing you to act accordingly.
Apparently the time loop is not the only force at play, so much so that there would seem to be a way to not start completely over and over from loop to loop.
This slightly moves Deathloop from the roguelike bar, considering that our character, power after power and perk after perk, will be able to build a real arsenal.
