Codemasters has announced the latest feature for its new Dirt 5 titled Playgrounds, the latest new feature that allows players to design, create, modify and compete in custom arenas and instantly share them with the world.
Using a wide range of items such as bumps, kickers, ramps, tunnels and fire rings, players can get creative with endless possibilities. Start with a blank canvas inside South Africa's iconic Cape Town Stadium or go to the open space of the Arizona desert. From there, players can choose from three exciting game modes:
- Gate Crasher: a checkpoint to be reached at high speed by rushing through strategically placed gates. While it sounds simple, after adding loops and other obstacles, the challenge increases tenfold.
- Gymkhana: An adrenaline-pumping arena to showcase our skills filled with drift, traps and precisely placed objects for the perfect challenge. Players are rewarded for speed and style.
- Smash Attack: the ultimate four-wheeled hide-and-seek. We will be able to strategically place objects and establish a score. Players must find and collect all the items in the shortest time possible.
Once we're happy with the design, we'll be able to choose a vehicle, complete the event, create a thumbnail using the game's Photo mode and upload it. Players around the world can download Playgrounds and post their best scores on the leaderboard.
For those who want to jump straight into the action, the Discover menu is the place to go. The Featured category hosts ever-changing arenas that the studio recommends and curates. The Top option gives players instant access to the community's top-rated challenges. For players who can't decide, Lucky Dip offers a menu of all three game modes.
DIRT 5 will be released on October 9 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, followed later this year by PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X.
