Granzella has published a retrospective article of 2020 retracing the 14 most important news of the year relating to the company. One of these is the release of the PC version of Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories in April in Japan, as well as the previous release agreements regarding the PlayStation 4 and Switch versions. The end of the news anticipates a DR 5 not announced.
The indiscretion reads:
“There might be some of you who say 'All you have to say is commercials?', So I'll share a little bit of our next title. According to rumors, planning and partial prototyping for Disaster Report 5 seems to have already begun. As for whether or not “Stiver Island” (Capital Island) is involved in the story this time around… for now I'll just stick to that because I'd rather not lose my job.
I look forward to further news in the future! "
While this isn't Granzella's first indiscretion on Disaster Report 5, it's the most official.
In the downloadable content of Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories “Epilogue Part 2”, a customer reading around in a convenience store says: “Disaster Report 5 appears to take place between the first and second game…”.
Also, in the main story, there is a part where you can ask another character to change the game title in exchange for an object. There are three options, “Disaster Report 5” or Disaster Report 4 with different subtitles. By choosing the first, the game title is changed to "Disaster Report 5?" in the main menu and loading screens.
Chapter 4 of the game was first launched for PlayStation 4 in November 2018 in Japan, followed by Switch in September 2019 and for PC via Steam in April 2020 along with the global launch of the PlayStation 4 and Switch versions.
