The new Microsoft Flight Simulator has already had the opportunity to make itself known among the public thanks to its very high level of graphic detail and realism, but the implementation of VR was still missing to take it to the next level. The virtual reality viewer mode had been announced by Asobo Studio already in the course of this summer with a sad confirmation; initially, in fact, this component should have been available only through a specific Microsoft Mixed Reality device. Today, however, we discover not only the official launch date of this important addition, but also that all VR devices will be compatible; all via a developer live on MSFSofficial's Twitch channel.
So whether you are in possession of a Valve Index, a device from the Oculus family or other helmets you will be able to access the Microsoft Flight Simulator VR mode starting from December 23rd. This will in fact be introduced on the aforementioned date thanks to the Sim Update 2, a totally free update. So get ready for a 100% immersive experience that will include the entire pre-flight menu readjusted for use via VR, this in such a way as to allow you to play Flight Simulator without having to remove your helmet after each flight. In addition, this update will include two new tutorials dedicated to the Airbus A320neo jetliner.
In addition, the developers have talked about the plans for the following years first confirming that after the Sim Update 2 they will focus on the release of World Update 3, currently scheduled for January 28th (as you can see in the roadmap above). This is another free update that will introduce new details and gameplay elements, such as points of interest, for the UK.. Finally, there was talk of the possibility of viewing travel replays, which should arrive in the course of 2021, but also of the possibility of using settings for multiple screens (over the next two years) and flyable helicopters (for 2022).
