We already knew that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game of a thousand possibilities, aiming practically for infinity in terms of playability. But if between a bandit hunt and a shooting here and there you feel like a little relaxation, what could be better than a beautiful fishing on the banks of a river or on the banks of a lake?
Probably much more, but if you are a lover of this discipline and want to know how to make the most of the resources that the game offers you, read on and learn the subtle art of fishing.
Arm yourself with the right baits
Before launching yourself on the first pool of water in the game, the ideal is to go and understand what we are trying to fish, in order to find out where a specific species can be found (there are about thirty different ones) and above all use the right bait.
These will be available for purchase within the Bait Shop in the east of Lagras, in the Lemoyne Region. Below you will find all the baits that can be purchased, with the relative costs:
- Predator Bait: $ 3
- Herbivore Bait: $ 2.25
- Live Crickets: $ 0.5
- Live Worms: $ 0.5
- Crayfish: $ 0.25
- Special Lake Lure: $ 20
- Lake Lure: $ 2.5
- Special River Lure: $ 20
- River Lure: $ 2.5
- Special Swamp Lure: $ 20
- Swamp Lure: $ 2.5
Once you have made the necessary expenses, advising you to always have all types of bait ready, go to any river, lake or pond and get ready for fishing.
Let's start fishing
Then equip your fishing rod from the Weapon Wheel and then the bait via LB / L1 or Y / Triangle. Use the LT / L2 button to hold the fishing rod and cast the hook into the water with the RT / R2. With the spool in the water you can control the movements of the rod with the right stick and when you feel a slight vibration get ready to pull up your prey.
Hook the fish that has taken the bite with the RT / R2 button and once the line is withdrawn, you will find the coveted animal in your hands. If, on the other hand, he tries to escape, just hold the right stick in any direction to stop him and prevent him from breaking your line.
The importance of time
We have seen that each bait corresponds not only to a specific type of fish, but also to a different type of fishing spot. These will be further affected by the time factor. This will then lead you to make you fish in any weather condition, passing from sunny weather to incessant rain, from dawn to dusk; each of these combinations will allow you to bring home the prey you have chosen.
Hoping that the guide will be useful to you, don't forget that you will find many others within the site, all to make your experience in Red Dead Redemption 2 as deep and rewarding as possible.
