One of the most intrinsic features of the series, also in this Resident Evil 2 Remake we will find different locks and safes to make our progress more interesting and less linear.
Fear not, we are here to help you, starting with one of the first puzzles we will encounter on our path.
Leon's desk
There is a note on the desk, explaining that Leon's new colleagues have closed it with a padlock and that the combination is made up of their initials. Although it would be logical that they were the initials of the surname, we will have to enter those of their names to unlock the mechanism.
For the right side, the colleagues are Marvin Branagh (M), Rita Phillips (R), and George Scott (G), whose desk plaque was dropped to the ground, so the password is MRG.
For the left side, David Ford (D) and Elliot Edward (E) will provide us with part of the combination, but they will have to be entered backwards, so NED. Playing as Leon will get a High Capacity Magazine for the pistol, while Claire will get the Quick Reload for the revolver.
Cabinets
- 3rd floor = DCM
- 2nd floor showers = CAP
- Upper sewer control room = SZF.
Safes
- West Office, 1st floor = left 9, right 15, left 7 (hip bag)
- Waiting Room, East Wing = left 6, right 2, left 11 (one Mouth Brake for Leon, one Extended Magazine for Claire)
- Treatment Pool = left 2, right 12, left 8 (stock for Leon's rifle, pouch for Claire)
Portable safes
Unlocking these will give us spare keys to the Security Deposit, giving us access to a Waist Bag and various consumables. They are found in the laundry room (in both runs) and in the shower room or interrogation room (depending on the run in progress).
To open these we will have to press the buttons so as to turn on the lights in an anticlockwise sequence: it does not matter where we start from, it only matters that the button we are about to press turns on the light immediately following the last one in sequence.
