Snubbed by many in its original version dated 2006, Okami HD instead it has received a good response from the public over the years. The original adventure directed by Hideki Kamiya and produced by Capcom was in fact re-proposed in Remastered format on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One in 2017 and on Nintendo Switch in 2018, the latter platform where it was particularly successful.
According to the same leak which revealed the existence of various projects in progress at the Osaka house, such as Resident Evil 4 Remake, Okami HD has sold over two million copies worldwide among all supported devices.. Specifically, more than half a million users have purchased it for PC, while Nintendo Switch players touch the 600.000 units:
- Nintendo Switch - 600.000 units
- PC - 536.000 units
- PS3 - 529.000 units
- PS4 - 445.000 units
- Xbox One - 121.000 units
The edition for the hybrid console of the big N has curiously reached by itself the copies placed by the first version released for PlayStation 2. A certainly positive result, even if it has matured over a long time. At the moment it is impossible to understand whether such data satisfied Capcom to the point of commissioning a direct follow-up.
Last year, Kamiya himself would seem to have left a clue about the arrival of Okami 2, in the near future, but to date there have been no more details on this.
