The world's leading smartphone companies OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi have joined forces to expand the Peer-to-Peer Transmission Alliance in the global market, inviting other smartphone brands to join the alliance as well. This will allow users to exchange files, images and videos without the need for an internet connection, underscoring how OPPO and its innovative operating system - ColorOS - are open to collaborating with other platforms.
The agreement will bring faster and more intuitive sharing to OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi users. The internet has brought great convenience to everyday life, especially now with 5G ready to roll out, people expect faster and more stable connections at the same time. In this scenario, file sharing between different smartphone models and brands has always represented an obstacle to greater connectivity.
In order to overcome this gap, and bring a faster and simpler sharing experience to users even with different smartphone brands, OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi have decided to team up to create a Peer-to-Peer transmission agreement. through a protocol for high-speed transfer with WiFi Direct through mobile devices.
The file transfer function scans devices using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) which boasts a wider range and lower power consumption, and streams files using P2P (Peer to Peer) Wi-Fi technology, which is faster Bluetooth but does not compromise users' Wi-Fi connectivitythe. This system also offers an average transfer speed of 20MB / s.
On OPPO smartphones with ColorOS 7, users can swipe down on the home screen to open the menu where they will find the “OPPO Share” button, which they will have to long press to start it. This procedure must also be repeated on the vivo and Xiaomi smartphones to which you want to send or receive files. This allows users to transfer files with ease while also allowing multiple files to be sent at the same time.
OPPO Share is compatible with devices that support ColorOS 7 (Android 10) and later. ColorOS 7 will be available to users in the coming months and will include the Find Series, the Reno Series and the Series.
