Panasonic announces a new model, which enriches the line-up of the “AK” series cameras designed for studio and outdoor shooting applications. The new AK-HC3900 studio camera is a cost-effective solution, to work in 1080p HDR and ready to be upgraded to native 4K (60 / 50P).
The new AK-HC3900 is positioned very well in the broadcast, education and corporate markets. This camera is the evolution of the AK-HC3800, a model that has represented a point of reference in the segment of studio products for its excellent price / performance ratio.
The innovations introduced by the AK-HC3900 include the possibility of providing a simultaneous HDR / SDR signal, the expansion of the available video settings (1080: 59.94p, 50p, 59.94i, 50i, 29.97PsF, 25PsF, 23.98PsF; 720 : 59.94p / 50p), and the ability to be upgraded to native 4K (60 / 50P), thus reaching a horizontal resolution of 2000 TV lines.
The AK-HC3900 features a high sensitivity of F10 at 59.94 Hz (2.000 lx) and a S / N S / N ratio of 62 dB. The camera is also equipped with an ND filter wheel. The new CCU AK-HCU250, combined with the new remote control panel (ROP) AK-HRP250, connects directly to the camera head via a SMPTE fiber cable on which all the video, audio and control signals travel for a maximum length of 2 kilometers.
The new system includes all the features of that of the HC3800, adding simultaneous HDR / SDR output, expanded multi-format setting capabilities and the fact that it is natively 4K ready. Among the new features the HC3900 system includes 3G trunk and 3G prompter. The new ROP can be powered via PoE (this will allow you not to power locally but to use the IP connection to do so), to simplify installation CCU and ROP have SD card slots, which can be used to store different settings or update the firmware.
Operators can choose between two viewfinders: the AK-HVF100GJ studio model with 9 ”color LCD display or the AK-HVF75G loop with color LCD eyepiece. The AK-HC3900, AK-HCU250 and AK-HRP250 will be available during the fourth quarter of 2020 (price still to be defined).
The main features of the HC3900 camera are the following:
- Equipped with large sensor, very high resolution, high sensitivity and low noise
- Equipped with automatic chromatic aberration compensation (CAC), a dedicated motor to almost totally reduce the effect of skew and the Dynamic Range Stretcher (DRS) system.
- It supports HDR (HLG) and ITU-R BT.2020 standard
- Upgrade to 4K (optional).
