With PlayStation 5 now ready to enter the homes of gamers, Sony does not seem to want to leave it to its fate. In a recent interview Jim Ryan, president of the PlayStation division, stated that the company is looking to grow with mergers and acquisitions.
In recent years, the Japanese giant has continuously expressed its desire to grow through acquisitions. Compared to Microsoft, however, its biggest competitor, it failed to close some moves that the Redmond giant was able to place. The studio that most recently joined Sony was Insomniac Games, which was purchased in 2019. The developer will soon release Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
The future plans of the Japanese company still seem unclear, even if from the latest statements it would seem that the PlayStation brand wants to forcefully attack the market for the years to come. Despite the enormous success achieved with its current console, Sony would like to continue on this path. The idea would be to create new internal studios rather than acquire existing ones.
