Resident Evil 7 recently brought the No Hero and Zoe's End DLCs, which extend the main story by offering players a much more action-packed experience. Owners of the Gold and Deluxe Edition of the game, however, also have access to another interesting series of additional content: these are terrifying experiences that, even if shorter than the two contents mentioned above, offer their healthy dose of challenge. .
We have already talked about how to overcome the Daughters DLC; in this guide, however, we will explain how to solve that sort of escape room called The Room, also showing you how to collect three collectibles that will earn you the Deratization trophy.
In “The Room” you take on the role of Clancy, the cameraman already known in one of the videos of the main plot of RE VII. Marguerite Baker will have immobilized you on a bed and, after bringing you a delicious delicacy to eat, will leave you alone.
Start by picking up the spoon, then free yourself from the lock on your left, get up and pick up the lantern hanging on the wall. At this point it is important to pay close attention to the position of the objects, especially those that you will collect and move: more than once during the game, in fact, Marguerite will re-enter the room and, if she finds that you have got up (or worse still, find yourself outside from the bed) for you will be serious trouble.
Turn your attention to the desk on the left: open the left drawer - where you will find the message “Same time as other clocks” - and look inside the vase on the desk to find the lighter. Ignore the drawer on the right which, if opened, will get stuck later making Marguerite suspicious. Instead, turn your attention to the paintings on the wall: take the round one, named Painting C, and place it in the center where the corresponding shape can be seen on the wall. Then pick up Painting B in the opposite corner of the room, next to the bed (ignore the spiders and bottles on the wall for now) and place it to the left of the round painting.
Deratization Trophy, part 1 of 3: to the right of the barrel there is a shutter leaning against the wall: bend down and look immediately behind it to collect the first rat.
Now examine the clock beside the bed and retrieve the broken hand. Turn around and go to the clock, to use the hand as a lock pick and open it. Pick up the third painting and be ready to move quickly, as removing the painting will cause some chimes that will draw Marguerite into the room. Quickly close the clock, turn around and place the third painting to the right of the other two, collect the needle from the voodoo doll inside the book that opens, then pick up the three paintings again. Put the round picture back in the first position and the Painting B on the barrel, to cover the spiders. Keep the painting recovered from the clock in your inventory, make sure you have closed all the drawers of the desk, hang the lantern and go back to bed, taking care to close the lever on the left wrist.
At this point Marguerite will come in to check and, if you have not aroused suspicion, she will leave the room again. Once you get up, use the needle collected by the voodoo doll on the clock next to the bed by setting the time to 5 (the message on the desk referred to the time indicated by the clock): the bed will slide on a mechanism revealing a door on the floor with the snake key and a note. The noise will make your jailer suspicious, so change the time on the clock to bring the bed back to its original position, put the lantern back in place and lie down imprisoning your hand so as not to arouse suspicion, so that the woman enters and leaves the room again. once, not before leaving you the second course of his rotting meal.
Deratization Trophy, part 2 of 3: Grab the fork and taste the food (Clancy will throw up in disgust), then stand up and examine the pot on the other side of the bed to collect the second rat.
Grab the fork and stove from the new tray, then get up, take the lantern and read the previously uncovered note by moving the bed, which will still be there on the floor: the text will give you a new order in which to place the paintings. Then pick up the painting above the barrel and the one on the wall again (the third is still in your inventory) and hang them on the wall in order A, B and C (respectively small painting, large painting and round painting). The book will open again revealing a second voodoo doll, this time holding a fork and a knife, with the symbol of a leaf in the middle: this is the combination necessary to open the lock of the door on the left of the room (on the fork and the other two symbols are engraved on the knife in your possession, while the leaf goes in the middle).
Then enter the snake - leaf - apple combination, open the door and enter the new room.
Deratization Trophy, part 3 of 3: Just inside the small room, look up on the closet to the right of the overturned chair and pick up the third and final rat.
Bend over and use the fork to remove the nail from the cupboard door, then open it and collect the solid fuel. Now go back to the main room and, after combining the stove with the fuel just collected, place it on the barrel, near the spiders, where you have collected the largest painting. Use the lighter found in the first few minutes of the game and wait for the fire to drive away the spiders, then pick up the corkscrew from the wall.
This last operation will break a bottle attracting Marguerite's attention: be quick to take the three paintings from the wall, placing the round one in first position and the large one above the barrel, then hang the lantern and go back to the bed.
Once Marguerite is out of the room, get up, pick up the lantern and use the corkscrew on the hook that hung it to pick it up. Do the same thing with the hook in the other room (hanging on the wall on the right) and in the inventory combine the two hooks together. Go back to the main room and examine the desk with the mirror, where you initially found the lighter: stuck on the left side, between the shoulder of the desk and the wall, you will find a knife.
Pick it up and use it in the small room to open the projector. Insert the lantern inside and use the two hooks combined together on the pedestal closest to the painting to compose the shadow of the Medusa. Then use the fork (at first it looks great, but in the right position it will be perfect) to compose the shadow of the snake's head.
Once the shadows match, the cage will open and you can collect the snake key. Marguerite, at this point, will enter the room and will go on a rampage not finding you in bed. Grab the knife and jump into the fray: once Clancy plant the blade in Marguerite's throat you can safely use the clock to move the bed and the snake key to open the door below, which as already seen in the main adventure in the role of Ethan Winter, leads to a secret passage to another wing of the house allowing you to escape from Resident Evil VII's Room.
