Roccat Kain 120 AIMO is the new Gaming Mouse signed by Roccat, an interesting product from several points of view. The packaging with which it is sold is essential, as per the Roccat trademark. Inside the box you will find the mouse and the usual quick guide manual, the manufacturer takes care of the substance and this is already an excellent starting point. The sensor used on this device is a 16.000 DPI Owl Eye Sensor, evolution of the optical sensor PixArt PMW3381 with an ideal range that goes from 400 a 3000 DPI, but which is able to guarantee optimal responses even at the maximum resolution allowed. The mouse is available in black and white, depending on your preference.
Appearance
Once out of the box, Roccat Kain 120 AIMO immediately inspires comfort, especially for those with large hands, a real cure-all at a time when the fashion for small form factor mice seemed to heavily affect the market. Let's just say that this is not an ambidextrous mouse (it has two buttons on the left side), its dimensions are 124 x 65 x 43 mm and the USB cable covered in braid is of suitable length for any type of build.
Depending on the size of your hand, the mouse turns out to be suitable for anyone using a handle palm grip, but it's still usable even if you prefer one fingertip or a claw, according to your tastes or habits.
The materials are well made, we have a total of five buttons plus a wheel and two-zone RGB lighting. The two lighting areas correspond to the wheel and the Roccat logo on the back of the mouse, while the DPI button is not lit despite being transparent. The form factor is linear e rounded, there are no annoying edges or sudden line changes that can be annoying in the handle.
There are no rubber inserts, the entire surface of the mouse guarantees an excellent grip and, which is very pleasing to the eye, is not affected by the classic fingerprint marks, always remaining perfect.
Experience of Use
Once connected to the computer, Roccat Kain 120 AIMO proves to be a very versatile mouse, adapting not only to long gaming sessions with various fps titles such as Doom Eternal or Overwatch, but also and above all to a desk use. The comfortable grip and the great sensitivity of the Titan Switch make it a performing weapon both when shooting and when using the sniper: the accuracy of the Owl Eye sensor is incredibly effective and the particular configuration of the switches allows you to fire with the same reactivity by pressing at any point on the button.
The weight of only 89 grams makes it agile, especially on an aluminum mat. Even lifting the mouse you never have uncertainties and scrolling through the various profiles even during gaming is fluid and very simple.
Software
If you are used to using Roccat products, you will certainly know the software Roccat Swarm, with which the German manufacturer allows you to interact with its mice and keyboards. The program interface is simple and attractive and everything that needs to be at hand is there. We can modify practically every parameter of the Roccat Kain 120 AIMO, starting from the DPI value of the sensor, the management of macro profiles (don't be afraid to lose the configuration, Roccat has inserted a 512Kb internal memory). In addition to the five storable profiles, it is possible to change the colors of the Aimo LEDs not only with a fixed color but also with the various effects available.
If you install the Swarm app on your smartphone, you will have access to the synergy between the smartphone and the software installed on the computer, in such a way as to have a sort of "telemetry" available to keep an eye on important statistics such as actions per minute, errors made and monitoring hardware. Customizing and configuring the Roccat Kain 120 AIMO proved to be really simple, the program does not clearly weigh on the use of memory and in a few minutes you can literally "sew it on" as if it were a real extension of the hand.
Roccat Lain 120 AIMO has all the credentials to be an excellent product and Roccat's experience in the field of gaming peripherals leaves every possible door open to success. The wish we feel to the manufacturer is to have finally solved the reliability problems that too many times in the past have made many turn up their noses, preferring other brands. The mouse we tested is really nice and comfortable to use, it is sold at a price of around 70 euros, but we are sure that, by taking advantage of some flash offers, you can take it home with something less. Certainly we are not talking about a cheap mouse, but one that settles perfectly in the market segment in which other brands are the masters with even more expensive mice and perhaps not suitable for those with big hands.
