    Steam: 50 games exceeded

Since its launch in 2003, Steam has established itself as the go-to store for PC gamers, leading to a monopoly to date only partially questioned by the Epic Games Store to the sound of games given away.

The continuous record of players ground by the platform, combined with the almost total absence of quality checks, has led an impressive number of developers to publish their titles on Steam, thus exceeding in recent days the enormous figure of 50 games.

The count includes both the 48+ titles shown with default settings, and the XNUMX+ for adults. However, the DLCs are not included.

As shown by the SteamDB stats, the number of games released annually on Steam has skyrocketed since 2014, in conjunction with the explosion of the indie market and the free versions of the major development environments (in particular Unity and Unreal Engine 4).
In fact, if during the whole of 2013 they saw the publication of 558 games, in 2014 this figure reached 1381 titles, increasing more and more and reaching 10059 in 2020.

To date, the titles published in 2021 are already 1213, showing how these gigantic numbers show no signs of abating.

At the moment, to buy all the games on Steam it would be necessary to shell out over half a million dollars even if, the greedy balances dedicated to the lunar new year currently in place, bring down the figure considerably.

In short, after 18 years from its release and despite the attempts of the Epic Games Store, Steam continues to be synonymous with PC gaming. The monopoly of Gabe Newell and his Valve shows no signs of letting up.
