The world of virtual reality seems to be one of the most interesting scenarios among those to look at for the future of video games. It is not a mystery how even in the console field some steps forward have been taken in this sense, with Sony having paired its PSVR with PlayStation 4 and, most likely, in the next few years will present a new version of the viewer next to PlayStation 5. Xbox has always seemed far from this sector: a file found inside Microsoft Flight Simulator, however, could suggest that Redmond are not too averse to the idea of development or support of a viewer for next-gen consoles.
As reported by Windows Central, within the Microsoft Flight Simulator game files you can find not only references to "PC_VR" (ie the use of VR for the PC version) but also to "Scarlett_VR", or the code name Xbox Series X was known at the design stage. VR support for the PC version has already been confirmed, while for Xbox Series X and Series S nothing is obviously known yet, as there are no usable viewers.
Obviously all these are speculations related to a file present in the game and there is still no concrete evidence, yet this detail makes it clear how Microsoft is not that far from the VR sector after all and that, perhaps, in the coming months or years we could see some news in this sense: a proprietary viewer? Or, even better, compatibility with one of the new versions of the viewers for PC coming out on the market?
