Finding yourself in a vast and rich world like that of Assassin's Creed Valhalla reserves many surprises for the players, it will take time to get used to and get to know it better. However, there are some precautions that it is good to take immediately, in order to face the challenges with a different attitude. Below we give you some tips that could be very useful during your raids in the latest Ubisoft title.
Use Synin and the Eye of Odin often
In some missions you will not be given an objective highlighted from the start, as it used to happen in previous chapters. You will need to make use of your trusty crow Synin and the Eye of Odin, more useful than ever in these circumstances. Through Synin you should see the areas of interest drawn in light blue. The Eye of Odin will be useful both for spotting enemies and for actually understanding where the treasures are, which will be surrounded by a golden aura.
Synchronize!
In addition to discovering the activities in an entire area of interest, the synchronization points are more useful than ever in a vast open world like that of Assassin's Creed, primarily for the possibility of rapid travel. In fact, this feature will be very useful if you need to move quickly for various reasons, avoiding long crossings on horseback or by ship. Unless you're passionate about it, of course.
Upgrade the ration bag
Quick combat healing, through the use of rations, is a fundamental aspect of the combat economy in Valhalla. We would therefore like to advise you to strengthen the bag that contains them as soon as possible, in order to have good autonomy, in terms of health, even during the most tiring and longest fights.
Watch out for mushrooms
The ration bag can be replenished by collecting food from around the world, including mushrooms. But be careful to only collect the yellow ones. If you collect blacks, your health will suffer. Viking warned ...
Break the glass
In Valhalla it will be easier to interact with our surroundings: for example, many glass and windows will be destructible. This will be useful especially in raids on monasteries and churches: they are hidden paths that will give you advantages both to search for treasures and to approach in stealth mode.
Beware of flammable vessels
Fire, at least at the beginning, will be an element to keep an eye on because coming into contact with it could lead Eivor to a quick death. However, this can also be used to our advantage. In the game world there will be explosive / flammable oil jars that can be useful both in battle, creating havoc among the enemies, and to open fragile walls or doors that often hide interesting treasures inside them.
Unlock Advanced Assassination
In the skill tree, in the stealth branch (we refer you to our guide) there will be a very important soft skill: Advanced Assassination. This will allow you to get rid of higher level opponents with a single stroke of the hidden blade, which was previously impossible in previous chapters. It will only be necessary to pass a QTE to bring home the quick kill.
Stock up on arrows often
In Assassin's Creed Valhalla it will not be possible to craft arrows: it will therefore be necessary to try to always refuel when possible. These will be very useful both in combat (to target the weak points of the enemies) and for the exploration / puzzle solving sessions, ergo never miss them.
Break the (non-flammable) jars for the loot
Many chests and jars are destructible items that contain loot such as silver and items for resale inside. Always do this whenever possible. Sometimes you can even find snakes inside: kill them and take their loot as well.
Make the treasures shown on the maps your own
As in Assassin's Creed Black Flag, there will also be treasure maps here. The position of these will be indicated by illustrations. You will find maps around the world and you can consult them whenever you want from the inventory, since they will have a special section.
Practice flyting
While flyting may seem like just a fun side activity, it will prove to be very useful. In fact, with each verbal battle, Eivor's charisma will grow and, from level to level, we will be able to unlock new dialogue options with other characters that will often prove very useful.
Ask for help
When you find yourself in thorny situations, especially regarding battles, you can ask for the help of your Viking friends. From the radial menu, simply choose the horn to recall both the ship (in case you are near waterways) and your trusted armed allies. If you make an enemy approach the ship quickly, your crew will target them with arrows at regular intervals.
