With a post published on the official website, Konami announced the closure of three different sections in the production area, explaining how the choice was made with a view to keep up with rapid market changes.
Many of the employees currently involved in these departments will be redeployed to new positions also at Konami, going to fill roles in the general production department e productions support divisions. Obviously all this does not necessarily indicate a total removal of the Japanese company from the world of video games, although for productions such as the remake of Metal Gear Solid it would seem more correct to look elsewhere; the change will take effect from February 1st of this year. Konami currently has several IPs in its possession which, in the future, could still be entrusted to other development studios.
No further information has been provided on the new structure of the company, but we will keep you updated on any future developments in this regard.
