If there's one thing the internet has taught us, it's that everyone loves baby animals doing things, especially if these babies are cats. Everyone will remember the success of Nintendogs on Nintendo DS and its sequel, Nintendogs + Cats on 3DS, capable of selling millions of copies from around the world. The arrival of Nintendo Switch on the market has therefore made a bell ring in the minds of the developers of Imagineer, who have decided to launch a game strongly inspired by Nintendogs called Little Friends: Dogs & Cats, available since last December in Japan, while from we will arrive on May 28, 2019.
Little Friends: Dogs & Cats, as you can imagine, is not a game with who knows what demands and objectives: after a short tutorial on how to manage and care for your puppies, all you will be asked to do is choose your first three friends and start interacting with them. There are 6 dog breeds and 3 cat breeds available, although as far as kittens are concerned these will only be available at a later date, after gaining some experience with dogs.
Each of your puppies will be able to have a name and from that moment will be available in your home, where they can play freely. The house can be completely customizable by changing the color of the walls, ceiling and floors, as well as choosing (or modifying) the furniture, adding sofas, bunks and toys for your puppies. To do this, however, you need to accumulate tickets, which are the currency of the game with which you can make purchases of all kinds. In fact, in the game there is a shop where you can buy everything: from food, to toys to even clothes and accessories with which to dress up your pet. There is talk of almost 600 objects that can be purchased.
By feeding your puppies their favorite food and letting them play, the affinity level will increase allowing the pets to learn new commands and become more obedient. So make sure you always spend time with them, even if just to pat them or give them a wash when the indicator warns that they are too dirty. As you can imagine, this type of activity takes place via the switch joycons, which will allow you to pamper and brush your trusted friends firsthand.
There are also activities to do outside the home: you go from the simple walk to the game with the freesbee, which for a strange reason seems to be the most important activity of the game, which is full of tournaments and competitions dedicated to this mini game.
Little Friends: Dogs & Cats clearly aims to fascinate a very specific audience: the same ones who in the past loved Nintedogs + Cats, or in any case a more casual and / or more childish user who simply wants to have fun growing and looking after small dogs or virtual cats, exactly as Tamagotchi did in the 90s. In this sense, the game does its duty and finds its place in a line up where this genre was still missing on Nintendo Switch.
